News 12 Long Island is a 24-hour regional news channel reaching more than 800,000 television homes on Long Island, New York. The channel is the flagship operation of the News 12 Network, which is touted by its corporate owners as the "first, largest and most watched regional news network" in the nation. News 12 Long Island was the "first local 24-hour news channel in the United States."[1] The channel launched December 15, 1986. [2]

Coverage Area

News 12 Long Island can be seen on cable systems in Nassau and Suffolk counties. In 2006, the estimated population of this news coverage area was 2,800,000.[3] The station's main studio, newsroom and sales offices are located in Woodbury, New York on Long Island.
