Hello there! I'm Chris, and I saw you on the WP:AAU Adoptee's area page with the message "Currently full (Check with me)" so I decided to check with you. Are you currently adopting? Thank you for your time. Chrishy 23:10, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm about to go offline, so I wanted, without putting the commentator's curse on it, to congratulate you in advance on a successful RfA. Well done and put that mop to good use. I think you'll be a valuable addition to the admin ranks. --Dweller (talk) 16:30, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Influenced by the BFG 9000, the Übercleaner 9000™ boasts top-notch wiki cleaning abilities, ranging from spam deletion to vandal blocking.

Thanks! :P. It would be really nice if I could make my blocking quick warn script work =[. I am currently hating my monobook. Do you use a script to warn users after you have blocked them? ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 20:30, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I usually block people using the MediaWiki Special:BlockIP and then warn them with Xenocidic's modified twinklewarn.js script, which makes the block options show up by default rather than the level 1 warnings. I also removed the ARV module, since I don't ever report people any more. J.delanoygabsadds 20:45, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that! Where is Xenocidic's modified twinklewarn.js script located? ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 20:46, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User:Xenocidic/twinklewarn.js. Here's the Twinkle modules that I use, the others don't seem to be useful to me. I have the bottom one commented out because I don't typically use it, but it is useful for cleaning up after page-move vandalism if no one has one of their Grawp-detection scripts running at the moment, and it is easier to just uncomment it than to try to remember what it is called. J.delanoygabsadds 20:52, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

// SCRIPT:     Twinkle (modified)

importScript('User:Xenocidic/twinklewarn.js'); // this makes "Blocking" the default selected warning level
importScript('User:AzaToth/twinklexfd.js');

A block of yours

[2]. The block should be much, much longer than 24 hours. The user was blocked for one year in October 2007 and obviously nothing has changed as seen from the recent edits. Enigma message 18:57, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did see that but I was thinking chances. I have changed the block time now and thanks for the message. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 19:02, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hm...here is another one that I noticed to be a bit long, try starting with 24 hours or 31 at most. Tiptoety talk 03:13, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as it belongs to a school district's tech dept, a much longer softblock might be a good idea. Still debatable though. MBisanz talk 03:27, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if that was the reason for the block it should have 1) been softblocked (as MBisanz said) and 2) it should have been specified it the block entry. Really though, no harm done. Tiptoety talk 03:33, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, Tip is right, it is helpful to check the Whois for an IP to set the block time (and reason) to the optimum setting. MBisanz talk 03:37, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The reason that I blocked that IP for a week was that they had multiple months of vandalism, Also in the end they received seven warning for this month and after the final warning they continued to vandalize. Also thanks for the comments :), really helpful! ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:24, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just remember that blocks are protective not punitive...especially when dealing with an IP. Just because the user has a months worth of vandalism, does not necessarily mean they need a longer block than any other IP. Remember, it is a school IP, so vandalism is very common, and even more common is the fact that t he IP changes hands. So the person responsible for the most recent vandalism was probably different than that of the person who vandalized a week or month ago. Tiptoety talk 21:56, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Softblock most IPs. Gwen Gale (talk) 22:11, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

French commune infoboxes

Hi congrats on adminship BTW. Good to see an admin promoted who actually has a decent mainspace edit count. We have a large back log of French commune articles to add the infoboxes from French wikipedia Status check. All that needs doing is copying the infobox directly from the French wikipedia equivalent and with some slight changes. Please see Vulaines. All that needs doing for each article is cutting and pasting the infobox from French wiki into every article which must be bot compatible. So for Vulaines all it requires is pasting the infobox into it from here and pasting it into the english wiki article. COuld you please help programme a bot or use some form of coding to help complete the task in hours rather than months? Count Blofeld 12:49, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I am very busy currently so I would not really have enough time to code anything. I suggest you past your idea here. This way all of the bot owners can try to help you out. Thanks for the message. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 17:33, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: ACC tool

Hey Addshore. In response to your query, Elite Rhodes (Death Ball 102) created the account first time around, and the user received their confirmation e-mail from ACC. Since the account had already been created, and the user had already received their ACC confirmation when the request was originally marked as created, I dropped the request.

I became aware of the request due to the accounts-enwiki-l conversation ([Accounts-enwiki-l] English Wikipedia Account Request) between Elite Rhodes and the requesting user, which caught my eye – see my reply for more info on that one. haz (talk) 11:37, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Action Aid

Hello,

I'm rather new to wikipedia, so I'm not sure if I'm asking the correct person... However maybe you could help: In the Action Aid wiki page, there is a line titled "Criticisms". There you can find a link that does not work. It is note [1] at the end. I think this line was added by you - but I am not sure (!) How could I fix this?

Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.202.163.114 (talk) 14:31, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there.
The link now works. The link was not meant to go to an off site page but was meant to take you down to one of the notes or references on the page. Unfortunately no one had added such a section so the link just sat there. I have now added the section so the link should now work. Thanks for tell em about this ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 14:37, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Addbot

Hi Addshore. I thought schoolblock templates should not be substed, as the instructions they contain are likely to change. The template documentation says as much. Additionally, I reverted one of your edits[3]. -- zzuuzz (talk) 02:07, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are several other templates on the list you are working through which should not be substed as they are subject to updated information. Specifically, please don't subst any of the proxy or Tor templates, as they often need updating. These are all but listed at WP:SUBST as templates which should not be substed. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 02:26, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
