Kismat Konnection [sic] (Template:Lang-hi) is an Indian Bollywood film directed by Aziz Mirza who previously directed films like Yes Boss (1997), Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000) and Chalte Chalte (2003). The film stars Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan in the lead roles with Juhi Chawla in a supporting role. Bollywood icon Shahrukh Khan is the narrator in this movie. Produced by Ramesh S Taurani under the banner of Tips Industries, Kismat Konnection was released on July 18, 2008.[1]
Production
Previously titled Lucky lol Kismat Konnection roughly translates to Connection Of Fate in English, Kapoor and Balan began shooting for the film in Toronto, Canada and later continued in Mumbai.[2] Actress Juhi Chawla will be playing the role of a gypsy fortune-teller dressed in typical colorful bright attire.[2]
Kismat Konnection is said to be inspired by the Hollywood film, Just My Luck which stars Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine.
Synopsis
This is a story about an architect Raj Malhotra. He was a topper in his school and college days. He is unable to get any clients or projects during his working period. All the things he does goes wrong. He decides to go to a gypsy named Haseena Bano Jann who advises him that his time is not good and he needs a lucky charm or a person who can change his life. During this instance he meets Priya who is ready to help others by trying to save a community center.Although they don't get on during their first few meetings Raj eventually realizes she is his lucky charm. Priya ends up helping Raj through sticky situations and Raj eventually figures out that she is, in fact, his lucky charm. Knowing that, Raj lies to Priya by telling her that he will help her save the community center but instead he is trying to build a shopping mall there so he can finally be known. Later Priya finds out the truth and is really upset. To make up for his love Raj sells everything he has and not caring about his job he proposes a plan to save the community center and ends up winning. After Priya and Raj unite Raj's life changes and he is prosperous.

Critical Reception
The film received an average rating of 3 out of 5 from the critics [3]. "A simple romantic Kismat Konnection", "which could have been a good romantic comedy, but lack of good one liners, a bit lengthy second half, typical climax makes it fairly average." However Taran Adarsh gave the movie 3 out of 5 calling it a simple and sweet film. He also said the performances by Shahid and Vidya are done very neatly. Noyon Jyoti Parasara of AOL.in also rated it 3.5 out of 5 and said, "Overall, Kismat Konnection bears the stamp of typical Aziz Mirza film. It's not a great story or an extraordinary film. But it's a nice, cute and emotional movie."[1]
Box Office
The film grossed more than Rs 27 crores in the first 3 weeks. The film was released in more than 900 screens worldwide including US, UK, Australia, Pakistan and the Middle East. In the Middle East, the film did a business of ₹10,120,000 (US$120,000)[citation needed]. This is the 3rd highest in 2008 after Race and Jodhaa akbar, both of which were distributed by UTV Motion Pictures. In the US, it collected Rs ₹916,300 (US$11,000)[citation needed] by the 2nd Night of the Release.
Music
The music was composed by Pritam. While lyrics have been written by Sayeed Quadri & Shabbir Ahmed. 'Soniye Ve' is composed by guest composer Sajid Wajid. Remix songs are mixed by DJ Suketu & Aks.
