History
Pre-Pit-Fighter
Originally from the island of Kyūshū in the village of Umi, Katsurou was born to Ichirou Shibutani and Mizuki Hidaka. Ichirou, originally from Fukuoka, was once a low level thug that did various odd jobs for the crime organization, the Yakuza. Though only holding the title of Shatei (or 'Little Brother'), Ichirou gained notoriety from his vicious and unique fighting discipline called Shi-Nun-Ju. While doing a 'job' in Tokyo, Ichirou met a prostitute named Mizuki whom he fell deeply in love with and vice versa; even accepting her young son, Haru, as his own. Two years into their relationship, Ichirou took part in an underground fighting tournament held by the Yazuka called the Red Shadow which he won with ease. Shortly after winning and receiving his prize money, Ichirou was met by a mysterious man named Oku Hirayama who he wanted to be his bodyguard; Ichirou, growing tired of his lack of progress in the Yakuza and at Mizuki request, took the job. He was to be one of two guards for Hirayama, the other being a Norwegian former Red Shadow winner from the year before, Nuke Oakland. Oku, to Ichirou's knowledge, was head of some biopharmaceutical company and took an unusually high interest in his fighting ability; even giving him $2 million to teach Nuke his style (which Ichirou happily accepts). The following year, Mizuki learns that she is pregnant with Ichirou's child and gives birth to identical twins, a boy they named Katsurou and a girl named Matsudaira. Days prior to their birth, Hirayama finds out and offers Ichirou $2 billion for each child. It is then that Ichirou sees that Oku Hirayama is a madman and leaves Tokyo for Kyūshū where Katsurou and Matsudaira are born and grew up, even teaching all them Shi-Nun-Ju. But after living peacefully for almost 10 years, Oku and Oakland then came after came after them. Knowing full well what he wanted, Ichirou devised a plan to split them up with him taking Katsurou and Mizuki taking Matsudaira and Haru, meet back up in the next month after hiding the children and wait however long it took. Ichirou, knowing that Oku had begun being targeted by the Ninjutsu terrorist group based deep in Aokigahara Forrest at the base of Mt. Fuji, Fainaru Esupowa-Ru (or Last Hope). He searched long and hard to find the leader of the group, Takumi Wanabea, who agreed to take young Katsurou under his wing; citing there being something special about the boy. While staying with the group, Katsurou befriended Gin Wanabea, Takumi's granddaughter, who, though being three years younger than him, was extremely skilled ninja and had more than 20 successful attempts under her belt. She began teaching Katsurou the art of Ninjutsu which he excelled at. Pretty soon, the two became lovers. By the age of 15, Katsurou began becoming an active member in Fainaru Esupowa-Ru, becoming an ninja assassin and aiding them in their cause, even being given the code name of Mokumoku meaning "silent". When hearing of another failed attempt on the life of Oku Hirayama, Katsurou remembered it was because of him that his family had been broken up and wanted to find out what had happened to him. Against Takumi's wishes, Katsurou went after him (along with his Gin) to kidnap him and interrogate on what had happened to his family. But the attempted failed, resulting in Gin's capture and Katsurou's death. Unknown to many, Oku Hirayama has the unique ability to bring dead bodies back to life and does the same to Katsurou; but not without first changing his memory. Katsurou awakens Seiji Kato, born in Taipei, Taiwan, and residing with his grandparents, Makoto and Usagi Kato in their large basement of their resturant.
Red Shadow Tournament
Before the tournament's beginning, Kato befriends Pamela 'Pam Pam' Sutten, a boxer looking to get revenge for the death of her brother's death at the hands of the tournament champion, War, the year earlier. Shortly thereafter, Kato become the primary target for the young and extremely cocky kicking fiend, Ty Hunter Jr., after catching a glimps of his Shi-Nun-Ju.
