Splatterhouse is a horror action game currently in development by BottleRocket for Namco Bandai Games, slated for release in mid-2009 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[2] It is a remake of the original Splatterhouse beat 'em up released in 1988. The creators of the game are well known for their involvement with the Mark of Kri and Rise of the Kasai games.

Plot

According to the June 2008 issue of EGM, the plot is as follows:

The story is a retelling of the original's, but with some new twists. Dr West, a character mentioned in the original game, is now the teacher of Rick and Jennifer. West becomes the antagonist and sends monsters (Known as the "Corrupted") to kidnap Jennifer and fatally wound Rick, who finds the Mask and dons it. Whereas Rick became a Jason Voorhees-inspired creature in the original title, this time he becomes something of a hulking version of himself.(Looking similar to the "Super Rick" form Rick had in Splatterhouse 3) The plot also now involves portals that spawn the creatures appearing across the world (these elements being pulled from the 2nd and 3rd game).

Gameplay

Based on screenshots, apparently Rick can be dismembered[3], but is able to grow his lost limbs back over time[4], Rick is also seen wielding weapons.
