Escape from Scorpion Island is a BBC children's TV adventure game show in which 10 contestants compete for three weeks to 'escape from an exotic island'. Series 1 was made by RDF Television for CBBC.[1] Series 2 and 3 were produced by Foundation/Freehand for CBBC and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.[2][3]

The first series ran on BBC One from 2007-09-03 to 2007-09-21 and was presented by Caroline Flack and Reggie Yates and filmed in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil.[2][4]

Series two premièred on 2008-09-28 on BBC Two.

The second and third series are hosted by JK and Joel and were filmed in Perth, Australia.[2] All episodes in the second and third series are one hour long for the UK show and are shown on Sundays at 9am on BBC Two.

It is rumoured that Mark Burnett Productions are investigating legal action against this programme for breach of copyright of their original idea, Survivor.

Synopsis

Series 1

Having arrived on Scorpion Island, the adventurers are divided into two teams, known as Sting and Claw, consisting of five members each. Over the following three weeks the teams must complete various challenges in order to gain various advantages, such as extra time.[2]

Series 2

Teams Sting and Claw each have three members. Hidden away from the camp is Limbo, where ten captives are held. Each day the captives battle against each other to try and impress Sting and Claw for a chance to get out of Limbo. Four of the Limbo captives are secret power players.[citation needed]

Series 3

Teams Sting and Claw and new team VENOM will battle it out in the most extreme series yet.{[citation needed]

Series 1

There is 3 Weeks (19 days). There is 2 teams Sting and Claw On the second week they are collecting Powerplays for Headstarts in the final challenge to Escape. On the third week... Things got harder. They had to use there Powerplays to gain Time Advantages the Time was Claw 2-1 Sting and the Final Challenge Shadow Mountain Highway Team Claw got a 2 minute headstart. Team Claw managed to make it! With Stings Kyran and Oscar having Minus Injurys climbing.

Australian transmission

All episodes in the second and third series are 30 minutes long in Australia. Series 3 will start on 03/11/08 and end 18/12/08. It will broadcast on ABC1, weekdays at 4:30pm also on Sundays at 8:30pm.

United States transmission

Series 3 will be the only Scorpion Island on American Broadcasting Company, on abc2 and at 5:05pm (running time: 1 hour). [citation needed]
