Vasile Atanasiu

Vasile Atanasiu (b. April 25, 1886 in Târgovişte, Romania - d. June 6, 1964 in Bucharest, Romania) was a Romanian general.

He graduated from the "Military School of Artillery, Combat Engineering and Navy officers" in 1907, with the rank of sub-lieutenant, being promoted lieutenant in 1910, captain in 1915 and major in 1917 during World War 1. After the war he attended the Şcoala Superioară de Război (Military Academy), at present Carol I National Defence University, graduating in 1920 when he was advanced to the rank of lieutenant colonel.

He served as General Officer Commanding II Corps in 1941, and moved to III Corps laster that year. He was Inspector-General of Artillery from 1943 to 1954 and General Officer Commanding 1st Army in 1945. Atansiu went into reserve in 1948. [1] [2][3]
