Mesoamerica Image

Thanks for the positive feedback. There doesn't seem to be a "squashed" problem anymore. It's just that when I first changed the image, it came out in my browser as if it were squashed into a space that was half as tall as the image appears now. It looks OK now though. Thanks for the offer of help anyway. --GringoInChile 20:22, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cinco Ranch High Image

hey, thanks for the welcome. I could use some help- added an image to a page (just search 'cinco,' should yield cinco ranch high school- only image on the page). Could use some help bringing the image fully in line with wikipedia policy (or dumping it if it is impossible to do so). Thanks a bunch!! - User:Tmbrtmbr

Oasisamerica

My RfA

Hello Draeco, and thanks for voting in my recent RfA, which passed with a tally of (68/19/3). Hiatii (??)

Hi Draeco, thanks for the note. I too will be going on vacation, but not for another two weeks. I'll be gone for three weeks (July 2-29), but will have computer access for some of that time so I may still be active on WP. Have a great time in Thailand. I'm sorry if it's late, but thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia. Have anything to discuss, I'll be very happy to share my thoughts! -- AzulAokawa 11:01, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question about style

Hi Draeco, thanks for welcoming me and the open invitation to ask questions. Here's one for you: I've been making contributions, and changes, to some local community pages (Darien, Norwalk, Stamford and other municipalities in Connecticut), and I've been told by another contributor that I shouldn't change the order of the categories (especially keeping "Demographics" up top). The only reason sited is "Wikipedia style." He says that other contributors told him that when he first started contributing.

I've looked around as best I can, and I can't find any official Wikipedia style for that kind of thing. I believe Rambot generated all the Demographics information for communities (I think actually creating most of those sites in the process), but I see nothing on his page about protecting the order, so I don't think it harms any updating process.

I see no harm in moving "Demographics" down farther on the page to make way for more interesting sections, and I strongly suspect that the only reason it's up high is because no one dared change the order before. What would be the best way for me to (a) research this; (b) avoid stepping on others' toes in as reasonable a way as possible; and (c) move "Demographics" down the way I want ti (if I still want to after learning more)? Thanks again. (sorry, can't find tildes on this keyboard) Noroton (Well, it's the next morning, and I just found the tilde key, so here you are.) Noroton 16:51, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm really messed up.

Gah! Why won't the picture on my first article, TreasureTrooper, scale? Also once that's been solved, can I create a discussion page for it? Allot has been happening with that and I'm curuous about it which is why I started the article. Great, and now I can't even find the article again in a search. Help? Please? ICRC

Hi Draeco, I'm still on vacation but my hiatus seems to be over. I had a look at your article. I wasn't sure of the best way to indicate suggestions--I didn't just want to edit your article in-place--so I created a copy in my user-space: User:Rodney Boyd/ICRC. I hope my editing conventions are more or less intelligible. As a general comment, I found that after an initial reading it still wasn't clear to me what the mandate of the ICRC is in contrast with that of other Red Cross organizations. I think I understand it now, but it's still a little murky. Regards, Rodney Boyd 00:42, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your welcome

This is probably long overdue, since it's been 8 months since you welcomed me to Wikipedia and I never responded. What can I say, I was kind of shy back then, but now, after I've just contributed a little more than 500 edits on the main space, I'm not as shy as I used to be . Anyway, I'd like to express my gratitude. Star Ghost 04:02, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Loreto

Could I ask you to have a look at this recent edit to Misión de Nuestra Señora de Loreto Conchó? It's summarized as "corrections, additions, pruning of extraneous material", but it sure looks to me like a lot of what was pruned was not by any means extraneous. At a quick glance, the article as rewritten removes, among other things, all mention of the 1767/1768 expulsion of the Jesuits and of the independence of Mexico. It seems to cut quite a bit else that is also relevant. On the other hand, it may have some actual "corrections and additions", so I hesitate to revert. And it's not a topic I know much about.

I see you worked extensively on this a while back, so I'm turning to you on this. - Jmabel | Talk 19:17, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I just would like to point your interest to the above article. I've done some basic copy-editing and wikifying, perhaps you can clean up the text a bit more. If I have some more time, I will try to synchronize the content with the German article I've written some time ago. After a quick look, it seems to me that all essential information is provided and correct. --Uwe 19:21, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think of switching the graphic of User:Will Pittenger/User Boxes/Wikipedia Since to align to the left, like many other userboxes? Just a thought. Deletion of Bitome

A tag has been placed on Bioptome, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

To short and/or does not give great support of what it is.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. I Play Sax! 01:24, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Patterson School Flag.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Patterson School Flag.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Zedla 00:42, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Breakdancing moves requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Hey there just letting you know that I reverted your last edit on cocaine. The fact about procaine and lidocaine being unrelated is untrue. You'll find further information in here. Check in the Introduction and history section. Thanks for the contribution Medos (talkcontribs) 16:11, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. I do see your point on the structural differences. They're not as easy to group based on appearance like maybe the steroids. I have to admit that I struggle to see the structural difference between lidocaine and cocaine. It's harder to see the difference between procaine and cocaine mainly because the structure are the opposite ways around on both articles. Medos (talkcontribs) 20:29, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Draeco

Hey that would be great, I need help, this place is a mess. Basically, I think the first thing I've learned is that I'm an inclusionist and if you are we should get along just fine. I resent having to negotiate, especially when it is something I know more than others about, and wanted to encourage one soul who wondered why his own life experience couldn't be part of the mix ...but he had left! And I think there's a lesson in that. I got into trouble at Frank Zappa because I thought his invitation to conduct the cream of three orchestras, in an event I witnessed, and had references for, was enough of a reason to enter it in, but some rock-n-roller thought it insignificant as a "one-off," not even a term that serious musicians use. When I pointed out that the individual was using slang, and not speaking like a musician, my remark was erased, as if that were libellous. So I found out that Wikipedia is not about authority, it about diplomacy. Yuk. I am still getting roped in, but probably because I switched to something literally sexy, namely pornography. And I find myself in the middle of a deletionist argument. First question: I guess we always put our latest entry in talk at the BOTTOM of the page... that seems counterintuitive, for sure... is it universal? Best,Xophorus (talk) 03:53, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another couple of items: First, where do I sign up as an inclusionist? Secondly, I'm a trifle confused about what the best way to communicate is: If I have your answers on my page, I can refer to them most usefully, and perhaps with least bother to you... but for full usefulness, that would mean having the questions on my page... do you consult my Talk to find out whether I'm talking to you? It would at least keep your talk page cleaner... Thanks, Xophorus (talk) 22:47, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi adopter, Draeco. Just been away for short wiki recess, since relatives of my 3 school mates called for help. Some of their kins died and were injured in Mumbai.
