Heat levels
Someone needs to add a section that details all the different heat levels. I would do it, but I don't really know how to go about editing the current section, how to fit it in, etc. _mich 03:38, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- A previous addition of the heat levels was moved to Wikibooks (see here), as I found that it was better suited there as a guide. Wikipedia articles are better designated to explain a quick overview of the game and gameplay; Wikibooks details it further. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 04:55, 17 February 2006 (UTC) ╫

Police car identification
I heard somewhere that the Police GTO's were referenced as the Monaro in some European adversiments and reviews. Anyone know if this is true, since the GTO is essentially a rebadged Monaro. --293.xx.xxx.xx 11:06, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- If you look closer, a Pontiac GTO has a slightly different front/rear light treatment and grill to the Monaro. The Pontiac GTO was a face-lifted HSV Coupé/Vauxhall Monaro VXR. The Holden/Vauxhall Monaro was never released in the USA, and the V6 Monaro was Australasia only. MyWiki54 (talk) 14:33, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
PC Support
Currently the article states that EA has announced that PC Support and patching has been cancelled, however I can't find anything but a forum post to back that up. EA hasn't announced anything officially, AFAIK. --Strangnet 06:36, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
I recently got e-mail help from EA, and they still have the patches for Most Wanted. Go here: ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/ and download nfsmwpatch1.3.exe. It's the most recent patch. Evils Dark 10:38, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Online Play
Can someone add information regarding "Online Play" for the PC with as much detail as possible.
Serious Comments
Note: This is a very long comment because this might be serious from Electronic Arts.
Ok. I don't know why Electronic Arts canceled online gaming for the PlayStation 2, but I know that many PlayStation 2 fans were both angered and dissapointed because of the cancellation of online gaming, making the Xbox Live from the Xbox 360 to get a full advantage. I hope I might make like a never-before seen Need For Speed: Most Wanted Gold Edition which it will be different. Trust me. This is my only hope to redeem them to return online gaming for the PlayStation 2. Only on PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360. The graphics should be vivider than Burnout Revenge, but this time, it'll offer free roam and the damage and the cops will remain, but this time, it offers paint scrapes, cars from Burnout Revenge should be there, will offer it to transfer cars on both Need For Speed: Underground 2 (a classic game) and Need For Speed: Most Wanted on both "My Cars" on the menu and the cars from Career Mode. And if theres an impound that it's been stamped, it's automatically removed. Rockwood City should be even larger and there will be more cities, races and even tougher cops, but as long as the crashbreaker (from Burnout Revenge) will be active, the cops can't arrest one single opponent or stand a chance against the toughest vehicles. Like from step 1 to 3 customization, it'll do the same thing to your own cars like from Burnout Revenge. It'll offer Race Editor so once you're done creating it, it'll appear on the Career Mode. It can offer Online Mode so this time, it'll add 2 more A.I. cars and it'll transfer your account to the new game. It can now cycle from day to night and with weather conditions. It can also offer more cars which might be a non-customizable vehicles, only to be changed by rims, dimensions andpaints (like decals, vinyls, etc.). The developer is now Criterion Games, along with RenderWare and still the more developer is EA Canada. I soon want to become king of video games because it's my only hope to give them hope to get a perfect score known as the "Perfect 10" on GameInformer. Even if they decline it, they still got to accept it. I can't make PlayStation 2 fans lose hope for them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anything Else (talk • contribs)
- While I see that you had put a lot of effort in discussing suggestions for the game, you should have better luck finding comments and engaging a discussion by posting this in relevant Internet forums. I know. It's because EA refused to offer online gaming even with the Black Edition. I need to give hope for my PlayStation 2 fans so all I got to do is wait for the money to get sufficient and I'll be able to tell them to create the Gold Edition which will be different. Anything Else (a.k.a.) David
This is an exact false rumor. There is no way Electronic Arts would design a game that contains car damage, plus Criterion Games are extremely busy designing Burnout 5 and must be promised that it must feature cops in the game. The next time you want to make long commments, do it in the forums and not in here, Anything Else. Right, ZS? Best Gamer 9 October 2006
Electronic Arts became a traitor within PS2 fans
I do got a better idea. This summer, I'm going to get payback with Electronic Arts for becoming a traitor within my PlayStation 2 fans and myself. I don't know how long am I going to be here, but I'm sure I'll meet with GameInformer. I'm going to fight back Xbox 360 and Electronic Arts due to cancellation of online gaming for the PS2. They think it is a good idea, but they made a terrible mistake. This special game will remain a mystery as I will be as an assistant. Both Burnout Revenge cars and both NFSU2 cars and NFSMW cars only on PS2 (on the Xbox 360 only transfers cars from NFSMW). This is why PS2 fans hated it. when PS2 fans will fight back with Xbox 360, that is the whole idea. Need For Speed: Revenge is an unknown game that I'm not creating this, but helping it. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I did'nt know you're name is ZS. Because of the McAffe Anti-Virus, I can't go to the forums, so I'll need to handle this one of my own, like telling them to make Need For Speed: Revenge, otherwise, I owe my PlayStation 2 fans copies of the Need For Speed games.
There is a very false rumor that there is no game called "Need For Speed: Revenge" because Electronic Arts never made this game. They are currently working on Need For Speed: Carbon, so there is no Need For Speed: Revenge after all. best Gamer 22 September 2006
Fansites
There are too many fansites. Normally I wouldn't care, but seeing that recently on the Runescape article all these people said having fansites on Wikipedia articles are not allowed, these should probably be removed or moved to StrategyWiki. Passage requiring source (Online play in the PS2 )
From this edit:
“ | Electronic Arts was influenced because many PlayStation 2 fans were both angered and dissapointed because they offered no online gaming for the PS2. As many PS2 fans will say to Electronic Arts: "A traitor within". | ” |
Where was this information cited from ? (If the passage was derived from forums, I don’t really see this as notable unless it garnered notable publicity.) Secondly, the passage is completely vague as to what exactly was influenced in EA. (did they reintroduced online play for the PS2? Have they issued any statements?) ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 18:48, 7 June 2006 (UTC) ╫
I do agree with this quote. Electronic Arts did became a traitor within because of lack of rendered online gaming. That is terrible. I know they are making Need For Speed: Carbon and if they intend to cancel online gaming for the PS2 version, many PS2 fans will have to e-mail Electronic Arts that they are betraying us and switching sides against Xbox 360. Shame on you, Electronic Arts. Best Gamer 15:35, 18 July 2006
- I would rather a notable source that suggests EA is a "traitor" for cancelling online play is provided before I am convinced. If this claim is simply based on one's opinion, I'm sorry to say that Wikipedia is not a soapbox to voice one's own point of view. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 17:24, 18 July 2006 (UTC) ╫
- Also considering the fact that the last few games (Hot Pursuit, Underground, and Underground 2) were all multi-console. They're "backstabbing" the PS2 fans as much as they are the GC fans by not including online, which the GC has never had. FyreWulff 17:50, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why would Electronic Arts would cancel Online Gaming for the PlayStation 2 of the game called Need For Speed: Most Wanted. If only they should not place it on the GameCube version due to it's lack of rendered Online Gaming. Electronic Arts are now making Need For Speed: Carbon, and I better hope Electronic Arts do not betray the PlayStation 2 fans. If they do, many playStation 2 fans will think that Electronic Arts was switching sides with the Xbox 360, and they must not continue to avoid day to night cycle, because it cannot be only a long constant night. Also they think Electronic Arts are a traitor to the PlayStation 2 fans. It might probably be a good idea not to put it on the GameCube version, and I'll say that exotic cars can't be upgraded, because it runs over 200 mph and not up to 192 mph or 199 mph. removal of fansite links
Because this page is loaded with fansites (which is not allowed according to Wikipedia Policy), only having the biggest one there is allowed. Therefore, after looking at Alexa.com's Need for Speed Fansite Rankings, the most popular NFS fansite was NFScars. Therefore I will delete all the other fansites. If anyone wishes to see how I got this data, look to the right of the following page: http://www.alexa.com/browse?&CategoryID=6986 . Thanks, WIKIPEEDIO 01:43, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- Also, EA has a screenshots section, a forum, and the demo download for NFSMW on their website, so we don't need to link out to unofficial sites to get those things. I will remove those too. WIKIPEEDIO 01:46, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Spoilers Section
It says in the spoiler section that at the beginning of the, the player has left Bayview and crosses the bridge to Rockport. While it makes perfect sense to me that Most Wanted is a continuation of U2, unless it's been confirmed by EA, I don't think it belongs in the article. -user:Someguy-021
- In the "Building Rep" part of the beginning, one of the characters (I thought it was Rog, but GameFAQs calls him ???) mentions "Well, look what the Underground let lose. Let's see how well you do in the daylight." So it does seem to be confirmed by EA. VegJed 17:02, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Blacklist needs to be added back
I don't think deleting the Blacklist was a great idea. One of the crucial aspects of the game, and it gets deleted due to an debateable policy? Putting it back in, due to it's significance. --293.xx.xxx.xx 07:15, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- I have trouble understanding the usefulness of including a blacklist. Besides listing who drives what, it does little else to explain the article's most important content - gameplay. Secondly, the blacklist characters (except Razor) have little to contribute in the storyline except being hurdles to the player - even if the drivers, driving preferences, biography and cars are rearranged, would it ever make any different to the game? Thirdly, when a reader not familiar with the game reads this article, would he/she be so concerned to details of a blacklist than information on changes in the game and new features?
- The blacklist can be also compared to weapon and radio station lists in Grand Theft Auto III. A peer review suggested that both lists and other trivial info be removed because they were considered cruft, despite their significant appearances in the game. Assuming one would like to turn the Most Wanted article into a FA article, comments to remove trivial or game guide-like information would be expected if something like a blacklist is added. Even if the blacklist were to be added again, it would be likely to be removed for the reason mentioned above. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 08:12, 20 August 2006 (UTC) ╫
And one could argue that adding the car list is pointless as well. What significance does that bring? You have a list of tuner, sport car, and supercars. All mixed together, no definitive seperation, just added because they were "in the game." --293.xx.xxx.xx 22:18, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- I would remove it. A basic summary of what form of vehicles are featured (typically summed up in a paragraph or two) is sufficient. Lists like this would be more preferable in a NFS wiki, however. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 08:50, 22 August 2006 (UTC) ╫

Sure thing. Sillygostly 07:48, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not all too approving with this particular box art. The image was uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, which does not permit fair use images, including cover arts. While I would gladly re-upload this image into Wikipedia itself, no information on where the image comes from is provided (the original uploader, being fully aware where he/she found the image, is to provide this information), and I notified the uploader of on his/her talk page.
I could had taken the liberty of finding a Black Edition box art on my own, but, most importantly, Wikipedia:Fair use#Images states that cover arts "for identification without critical commentary" are not permitted. This particular box art is only a minor variation of the original Most Wanted cover art, merely used to present the box art's differences from that of the original version, and nothing else.
I don't believe we need a Black Edition cover in this article. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 11:54, 24 October 2006 (UTC) ╫
Carbon has one, why not Most Wanted?
Need for Speed: Carbon has a character list. So I ask again: why not Most Wanted? --293.xx.xxx.xx 07:06, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- The Carbon article's list only refers to details (characters and their cars) that are not significant in terms of what a reader outside the gaming sphere (or even a gamer who isn't interested in playing the NFS series) may want to know (gameplay), and it can't be said that the game's storyline is that integral to gameplay to be worthy of mention. This article's storyline section, by encyclopedic standards, is sufficient enough, and can be used to mention only notable characters that have made a difference in the game's storyline (we are missing a bit on Cross' role in the storyline, btw). Besides, the list risks going against WP:NOT #1.8. The same goes for a list of Blacklist racers. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 20:24, 14 November 2006 (UTC) ╫
Ads
I'm not sure which is worse, EALink Adware or 3DGamers.com demanding that you register to its ad filled site. For now, I'll trust EA. EA thus far has proven to be honest. However, despite the fact that it is not typical for me to edit outside of the discussion page, I plan on removing the link to 3DGamers soon (within the week) if it is not removed by someone else. In the mean time I think there should be a wikispam to publicly mock anyone who tries to use wikimedia for free advertising. (QUINTIX 04:02, 25 November 2006 (UTC))
- Just to add, having just checked the site, even the two links to public servers (which are seemingly free from registration) are usually busy or clogged up. I'm equally prepared to rid this link under justifications in Wikipedia:External links#Sites requiring registration and problematic access of public servers, if no one else has any objections. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 17:54, 25 November 2006 (UTC) ╫

AI Elasticity
I think a major criticism of the game is missing, notably the 'elastic' ai feature, where if a player gets too far ahead, the ai is allowed to 'cheat' and the performance of AI cars goes beyond the vehicles capabilities. I believe one reviewer mentioned being passed by a VW Golf whilst driving the McClaren, saying the Golf cornered like it was on rails. In addition, poor driving by the player causes the AI to scale down and crash into things. While the system is good to some degree at maintaining excitement, experienced drivers/players complained that it took out any of the fun or purpose of aquiring new, or better cars, if you could never smoke the AI's VW golfs, Renault Clios, etc...
I totally agree , thats exactly what happens , its a option called "catch up" in the "quick race" mode. I actually overpassed a McLaren and a Aston Martin at 130 km/h whit the traffic Cement Truck. But you CAN smoke other cars , or probabily every car whit every other car (ex: you win whit a Punto vs. a Carrera GT)--rapzeh (talk) 20:04, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
List of cars
Lists of cars are unencyclopedic, and there's precedent in the large amount of articles that list cars and other game vehicles being deleted. Lists of cars are considered game guide material, and as such, not to be included in Wikipedia. DurinsBane87 00:40, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- It's not "guide" material if its purpose is to better explain the game's subject matter. An F1 racing game is different from a supercar racing game, which in turn is different from a ricer drifting game. If you cannot accurately describe or summarize the game's content in paragraph form, which this article doesn't do, then you should provide the car list and let readers judge for themselves. Otherwise, you're writing a review, which is not acceptable. Currently the only information about cars is that they can be categorized into 3 distinct types, including "Euro imports" and Asian (mostly Japanese) import tuners cars, (mostly European) exotic cars and American muscle cars. According to whom? Who invented these 3 types? What exactly is an "import tuner" (no wiki article exists for this term)? What qualifies as "exotic"? This is original research. While I agree the list was bloated and you don't need to have a bullet point for every model and variation, it does serve a purpose to mention specifically which cars are in the game. Ham Pastrami 09:12, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
You don't need to list F1 cars to describe them in an F1 game. You can talk about it being an F1 game, or a ricer game. DurinsBane87 16:46, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Infractions
Yeah...
I just thought it would be real helpful if someone could make a list of all the infractions commitable in this game. One of the reward cards demands 6 be commited to unlock; but as the game never list what these infractions are; and the book is just as unhelpful I was hoping the players could help out...

In-game references to Mia's undercover work.
There are several points in the game that hint at Mia being an undercover cop. A few examples are when Cross says "The UC thought you were the one. But you're mine now.", when the player is being arrested for the first time. There are also several SMS messages sent by Razor that accuse the player (or someone close to the player) of selling out Blacklist members to the police, and even during some pursuit police chatter over the scanner, where the police pull over a person they say claims to be an undercover officer and they ask dispatch to run her badge. I'm not sure where this could be added into the article, or even if it should to begin with. Perhaps it could be the start of a Trivia section.
