Eoghan Quigg

Eoghan Quigg (born 12 July, 1992[1]) is an Irish singer who finished 3rd in the fifth series of the British music talent contest The X Factor (UK) in 2008. As a result of his X Factor success, Quigg has been signed by Simon Cowell, owner and CEO of Syco Records.

Early Life

Eoghan grew up in Dungiven, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland and is currently studying for his GCSE’s. He lives at home with his two younger brothers, his sister and his parents who have been supportive of his dream throughout The X Factor.

Singing since the age of two along to Disney cartoons, he found his voice whilst singing with the school choir and from then on, sang all the lead roles in the school musicals. He attended St. Patrick's College, Dungiven, Northern Ireland.

The X Factor

Eoghan auditioned for the talent show 'The X Factor' infront of judges Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole in 2008. Eoghan got past the judges stage of the competition and made it to the live shows along with Scott Bruton and Austin Drage. Scott and Austin got eliminated realatively early in the competition which left Eoghan as Simon's one remaining act. Eoghan was the last remaining boy from week 4 to week 10 (The Final).

Performances on X Factor:

Week 1: 'Imagine' (John Lennon)

Week 2: 'Ben' (Michael Jackson)

Week 3: 'L-O-V-E' (Nat King Cole)

Week 4: 'Could It Be Magic' (Take That)

Week 5: 'Anytime You Need A Friend' (Mariah Carey)

Week 6: 'One More Try' (George Michael)

Week 7: 'Never Forget' (Take That)

Week 8: 'Sometimes' (Britney Spears) and 'We're All in This Together' (High School Musical)

Week 10: 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' (Wizzard), 'Picture of You ' Duet with Boyzone (Boyzone) and 'We're All in This Together' (High School Musical)

Eoghan came third overall which shocked the public due to the fact that Eoghan had come first in the public vote six time out of the ten weeks. Alexandra Burke won the competition.

Post-X Factor

Eoghan and other finalists Diana Vickers, Laura White, JLS, Ruth Lorenzo, Alexandra Burke, Daniel Evans and Rachel Hylton will go on the X Factor Tour in February 2009. Eoghan was, along with finalists Alexandra Burke and JLS and fourth-placed Diana Vickers, signed to Simon's label Syco after the series ended
