Plot

14-year-old Joe Henry (Noah Fleiss) has spent his life in an abusive household. He is taunted by his classmates, and hassled by creditors about his father's mounting bills. Joe resorts to petty crime, which begins to escalate. Guidance counselor Len Coles (Ethan Hawke) attempts to keep Joe on the right course, rather than let his life spiral out of control.
