Treatment and control of internal parasitosis (gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodes), ticks and mange (and other ectoparasites). Its spectrum includes: Haemonchus spp., Ostertagia spp., Trichostrongylus spp, Cooperia spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Dyctiocaulus viviparus, Dermatobia hominis, Boophilus microplus, Psoroptes bovis, among many other internal and external parasites. Its oleous carrier confers to Doramec L.A. a slow and prolonged liberation, extending its action up to 42 days.

Doramectine (Dectomax) is a veterinary drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of parasites such as gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, eyeworms, grubs, sucking lice and mange mites in cattle.[1]

It is available in 2 dosage forms: injection and a 5 mg/ml topical solution.

Doramectin is also marketed in many Latin-American and some Asia and Africa countries as Doramec L.A. (manufactured by Agrovet Market Animal Health [2]) in an 1% Doramectin Long Acting Injectable Solution for Cattle, Sheep, Swine[3] and others.

From 2008 doramectin is available also for Horse[3]. In fact that year, Doraquest L.A. Oral Gel, manufactured by Agrovet Market Animal Health [4]) was launched as the world´s first doramectin in an oral flavored bioadhesive gel for horses.

Doramectin in horses could be used to control and treat internal parasites as roundworms, lungworms and some external parasites.

Doramectine is a derivative of ivermectin.
