George Lamb (born 20th December 1979, Dundee, Scotland) is a British radio presenter, television presenter and producer.

Lamb, with Marc Hughes, hosts the BBC 6 Music mid-morning radio show. On 12 May 2008 the show won the Sony DAB ‘Rising Star’ Award at the Sony Radio Academy Awards[1].

His 6 Music show mixes banter, interviews and listener-led discussions with an eclectic mix of music, much of which is 'Old Skool' dance, hip hop and northern soul.

Television presenting

Lamb hosts E4's music show, Freshly Squeezed. Lamb, along with Zezi Ifore, replaced Dermot O'Leary as the host of Big Brother's Little Brother when it returned on 6 June 2008[2] which he eventually took over after his co-host received poor reviews.

He also co-presents the ITV2 show The Fashion Show, with models Abigail Clancy and Michelle de Swarte.[3]

In 2007, he replaced Alex Zane as the host of the second series of BBC reality show Celebrity Scissorhands and returned in 2008 for the third series.

Controversies

Lamb's 6 Music show has proved controversial, provoking rival anti- [4] and pro- [5] petitions and both unfavourable[6] and favourable [7]reviews. However, the majority of these criticisms are highly unfavourable[citation needed].

In May 2008 Lamb was reprimanded for appearing to pledge his support on air for Boris Johnson in the London mayoral race.[8]

In September 2008 Lamb interviewed Ray Davies of The Kinks. After Lamb asked Davies a series of seemingly obscure questions Davies declined to continue the interview. Lamb's handling of the interview caused upset among the The Kinks fan community[9], causing one to complain to Ofcom, who did not uphold the complaint[10]. Paul Gambaccini described the interview as the "worst interview in the history of broadcasting" [1].

Personal life

Lamb is the son of actor Larry Lamb[11] and supports Dundee United.[12]
