Centre

History

Kanata Theatre is a a 350-seat non-profit theatre located in Kanata, Ontario, Canada. It opened on May opened in May, 1996 by then City of Kanata Mayor Meryle Nicolas and Marianne Wilkison

Location

The theatre is located at 1 Ron Maslin Way, . Located near the Queensway (Highway 417), it is easily accessible to the residents of the city and is at the geographical centre of the Former City of Ottawa.


Performances

Genres presented include musical theatre, theatre, dance. Kanata Theatre is rented to Local Schools

Funding

Funding for the construction for the theatre came from Kanata Theatre's own building fund, and from a federal-provincial infrastructure grant. The then City of Kanata provided the site. The playhouse is on the western side of Kanata, just off Terry Fox Drive. and there is bus access by OC-Transpo.


Organization

All performers and staff are volunteers from this community, all with an interest in theatre. , from box office, ushers and other front of house duties to the stage crew, stage lighting and sound board.
