I Love You Beth Cooper is Larry Doyle's first novel, published in May 2007. The novel is set on graduation night at fictional Buffalo Glenn High School which name is made of his original high school Buffalo Grove High School. In it, "the class nerd" says that he's in love with popular cheerleader Beth Cooper during his graduation speech. After making this statement, events happen that change their lives forever. The book won the Thurber Prize for American Humor in October 2008.
In early 2008 it was revealed that the book was to be made into a film[1], with Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere in the title role.[2] Filming began in 2008, with a proposed release in Spring 2009.
The movie was filmed at Centennial Secondary School, Magee Secondary School and at St. Patrick's Regional Secondary; which are all located in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Plot
A nerdy valedictorian proclaims his love for the hottest and most popular girl in school – Beth Cooper (Panettiere) – during his graduation speech. Much to his surprise, Beth shows up at his door that very night and decides to show him the best night of his life.
