Brechin High School is a non-denominational secondary school in Brechin, Angus, Scotland. As of 2008, it has approximately 600 students, and a staff of 52. The school has a relationship with the town's cathedral stretching back to the early 15th century[1], with the formation of the choir school.
Current inspection
The last inspection by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education took place in 2005, and the provision by the school was generally found to be "fair" although results were slightly below equivalent schools; five key points of improvement were identified[2]. By 2008, HMIE found that the school had made progress to address these points[3]
School curriculum
===First Year and Second Year include such Students as 'Bottom lip', 'mole man' and the legend hiself: 'bighead boy' (S1 & S2) are brats that arearranged by alphabetical order in mixed-ability classes and follow a common course of study. In English and Mathematics, staffing allows students to be broad-banded by ability, as shown their performance in primary and in First Year.
Third Year to Sixth Year (S3 - S6)
Students in the Third Year to the Sixth Year (S3 - S6) study a smaller number of subjects of their own choosing leading SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) Standard Grade, Intermediate, Higher or Advanced Higher qualifications.
