Avner Strauss
Avner Strauss (Hebrew: אבנר שטראוס) is an Israeli singer song-writer and renowned guitarist. He is the founder of "Strauss Mifaaley Tarbut"(Hebrew:"סל תרבות שטראוס") company of national culture venues for Israeli students and pupils.
Biography
Strauss was Born November 5, 1954 , In Jerusalem. Picked up the Elctric Guitar at age 14 , and began playing in rock bands at the late 1960s. At 1971 he formed the first Israeli Blues band , and wrote the first Israeli 12 Bar Blues " I got a Telephone , Ain't got no one to call ". Drawn To Jazz Guitar he Later travelled To Study at "Berklee College of Music" which he Graduated in 1978 .
Upon his return he started recording and teachin being apointed as a guitar proffesor at the " Jeruasalem Academy of Music and Dance " .
Although he Started out as an avaunt guard guitarist in Jerusalem in the 1960s , Strauss plays Jazz, Flamenco, Classical and Blues guitar as well and has won multiple awards at the International Guitar Festivals. His published materials include mostly highly rated children music and poems, he has produced 3 audio CDs of original Hebrew songs including a live CD of Blues in Hebrew, as well as a CD and animated DVD of his original children's songs.
Avner has also produced an instrumental guitar album that highlights his many different musical facets and playing styles.
His poems where published in various magazines and in the Jewish poetry anthology "Voices Within the Ark" along with poems by his grandfather Arie Ludwig Strauss and his great grandfather Martin Buber.
Strauss has devoted years to research the subject of "History of whistles and small Aerophones " and is considered a renowned autority on the subject of Whistles and its Musical aspects. Strauss resides today in the Israeli coastal town of Herzliya.
