ABOUT ME

I'm 28 I was a Student a Leeward Community College I Graduated with a AS Degree in Digital Media, Specializing in Motion graphics / Motion graphic design

I remember that because of the sometimes awkward time slots conflicting with school bus schedules, I would stay home from school to watch Exosquad. So yeah I was addicted.

I first dipped into 3D in the late 90s with "Simply 3D", "Worldcraft", and "Ray Dream Designer 4" then in 00's I got my first taste of "Maya" and fell in love with the program and it's blend shape animation tool. Because I did not own Maya, I could only used it when I had free time in my schools computer lab. I was frustrated at not being able to work at home, so eventually I acquired XSI and have used it ever since.

ABOUT EXO-SQUAD FAN REVIVAL

Why 3D?

As much as I love the 2D animation and art form, an animated series such as EXO Squad, if it were to be reborn could benefit from 3D. Some current 2D animation utilizes 3D for things like buildings or vehicles that would be too time consuming to animate, however the characters themselves remain 2D. Rendering shaders know as toon paint or cell shade can allow for 3D models to look like 2D drawings but the results are far from the intricacies of hand drawn art.

Where would I like to see 3D in Exo Squad? Nowhere really. I would think however 3D could be used greatly to improve the detail of the E-Frames and ships, and improve the number of E-Frames or ships present on the screen in a single frame as well as increase the options of camera angles and such for the director. Whereas 2D animation falls into a pattern of recycling backgrounds and character shots, 3D can help reduce the monotony.
