A recurring topic on Coast-to-Coast AM, so-called "shadow people" (or "shadow creatures") are beings (or "entities") that have been seen by several people. Their description varies, some say they are completely nebulous, transparent, while others have said they appear solid.

Direct visual contact is rarely made with shadow people, they usually disappear before they can be seen clearly, and are seen "in the corner of one's eye." One caller on Coast-to-Coast reported seeing a shadow person that was a duplicate of himself.

Coast-to-Coast host George Noory once remarked on a series of lines from Paul Simon's Sounds of Silence, that, when though of in the context of shadow people, becomes interesting:

Hello darkness, my old friend, / I've come to talk with you again, / Because a vision softly creeping, / Left its seeds while I was sleeping, / And the vision that was planted in my brain / Still remains / Within the sound of silence.
