Assassin's Creed 2 is an upcoming video game that is currently in development by Ubisoft Montreal. It is rumored to be released in 2010[1]. It continues the storyline of Assassin's Creed as seen by Desmond Miles. It is not known whether Altair Ibn-La Ahad will return as the protagonist or whether Desmond Miles will return either. As in the last game, the acrobatic and stealth mechanics of the original game still apply.[citation needed]

Setting

The setting of the game is unknown however sources have suggested it could be set in the 1700s[2] during the French Revolution or possibly once again in the Middle East. The cryptic ending of the first game also seemed to suggest South America or Japan as a possible setting.[citation needed]

Development

In an interview, Gamespot recently interviewed Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot who refused to talk about Assassin's Creed 2 but confirmed it was in development:

"As for future years, one analyst asked if the second installment of Assassin's Creed would be released in Ubisoft's fiscal 2010. (The original was released to commercial success and mixed critical reception in 2007.) Guillemot flatly refused to give even a hint about the project, but did confirm it was in development.

'We're not answering that question,' Guillemot said. 'What we just can say is that we are working hard on the product.'"[3]

According to TeamXbox, the game is tentatively set to release in March 2010.[citation needed]
