Danger Radio (sometimes stylized as Danger:Radio) is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington.
History
Danger Radio's lead vocalist (Andrew de Torres of The Scene Aesthetic) and drummer (Nico Hartikainen) met as middle schoolers, soon after adding Marvin Kunkel as bassist for talent shows and school gigs.[1] They eventually expanded into a sextet and adopted the Danger Radio name before self-releasing their debut EP in 2006, which was produced by Casey Bates (Gatsby's American Dream, Portugal. The Man, This Providence).[1] After signing to Photo Finish Records, they released an EP, Punch Your Lights Out, in 2007.[2][3][4][5] Their debut full-length, Used and Abused, was released on July 8, 2008 on Photo Finish.
In the past, they have toured with the likes of PlayRadioPlay!, We The Kings, Metro Station, Forever The Sickest Kids, The Maine, The Cab, The Audition, and fellow label-mates Envy On The Coast. They also played on the second date of The Bamboozle in both May 2007 and 2008.
They were originally scheduled to play on Vans Warped Tour this summer, but later dropped out in favor of a tour with Cute Is What We Aim For, Ace Enders, & Powerspace, followed by a tour with Meg & Dia, Jonezetta, and Dropping Daylight in the fall. Then they went out on their first headlining tour with Brighten, Farewell, and Red Car Wire.[6] This included three dates in Canada.[7] Later in the year, they will be touring with Family Force 5 and PlayRadioPlay!.
Andrew de Torres is featured in Jeffree Star's single titled "Starstruck", from his Cupcakes Taste Like Violence EP.
Bassist Marvin Kunkel and the band parted ways in the fall of 2008; the band has not officially announced his replacement as of yet.
Danger Radio will be supporting Forever The Sickest Kids on a UK tour starting February 13th 2009.
