Inverurie Locomotive Works
Appearance
Inverurie Locomotive Works was built in 1903 by the Great North of Scotland Railway (GNSR) in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
History
The Great North of Scotland Railway constructed its locomotive construction and repair works on a 15 acre site at Inverurie 16 miles (26 km) north west of Aberdeen, adjoining the GNSR line to Keith. Only two locomotives were ever built there, both in 1921. The works remained open for locomotive repair throughout both London and North Eastern Railway and British Railways ownership, finally closing in 1969.
