Memphis is a musical written by David Bryan (of Bon Jovi fame) and Joe DiPietro. It debuted off-Broadway in 2002 and has won critical acclaim since.

The musical loosely follows the story of a Memphis DJ, Dewey Phillips - one of the first white DJs to play black music in the 1950s.

The world premiere was at TheatreWorks in Mountain View, CA during their 2003-2004 season. It was picked up by San Diego's La Jolla Playhouse for their 2008-2009 season with performances from August 19 to September 28, 2008. The production will be directed by Christopher Ashley. Showing at the 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle, from January 27 to February 15, 2009, a joint production between the 5th Avenue Theater and La Jolla Playhouse.

  • David Bryan announced that Memphis is currently "on its way" to Broadway at a benefit concert on November 5, 2007.
