Fiona Armstrong
Fiona Armstrong (born 28 November, 1956) is a British television presenter.
Armstrong joined Border Television in 1983 as a reporter, before becoming a regular newsreader. Then in March 1987, she switched to ITN as a presenter on News at Ten, News at 5:45 (later News at 5:40) and other bulletins, including a brief stint on Channel 4 News.[1] In 1993, she was one of the launch team on the ITV breakfast station GMTV, but left after only a few months.
She later rejoined ITV Border and became the chief female anchor of the nightly regional news programme Lookaround, as well as a presenter and producer on a number of regional programmes for the station, including River Journeys and Fiona on Fishing. Now a freelance broadcaster, Armstrong currently presents only the Friday edition of Lookaround.
In February 2009, ITV Border and ITV Tyne Tees are to merge. On 13 January 2009, it was announced Armstrong would not be made redundant.[2] She will become a features correspondent.[3]
