- One of the most significant accomplishments of Jimmy Carter's term as President of the United States was the Camp David Accords, which had several effects including Israeli withdrawal from the Sinai Peninsula and the eventual assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. Here Jimmy Carter greets Sadat at the White House shortly after the Camp David Accords went into effect. Sadat was killed the following year.
