Pontypool and New Inn Station is situated East of the town centre of Pontypool between the town and the suburban village of New Inn. It is part of the British railway system owned by Network Rail and is operated by Arriva Trains Wales. It lies on the Welsh Marches Line line from Newport to Hereford.

The station was originally established by the Newport, Abergavenny and Hereford Railway and named Pontypool Road. Subsequently it became part of the Great Western Railway. In 1972 it was renamed to a simple Pontypool, until it was refurbished in 1994 and took on its current geographically descriptive name.

The village of Griffithstown, now a substantial part of Pontypool, was named after Henry Griffiths, the first stationmaster at Pontypool Road Station.

Facilities

There are minimal facilities at the station. Disabled access is poor.

ROF Glascoed was once served by the Monmouth branch from the line at Little Mill
