Wonderland: Alice's New Musical Adventure is a musical with music by Frank Wildhorn and lyrics by Jack Murphy. The book by Phoebe Hwang, a contemporary version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, is set in New York City and focuses on writer Alice Cornwinkle, a descendent of Alice Liddell, and her daughter Chloe. [1]

The musical, directed by Gregory Boyd, is scheduled to begin previews on November 24, 2009 [2] and open on December 5 at Ferguson Hall in the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in Tampa, Florida. It will run through January 3, 2010, after which it is hoped it will transfer to Broadway or a national tour. The production is budgeted at $3 million. [1]

This will be the first production mounted by the Broadway Genesis Project, whose goal is to create new American works specifically for the Tampa market, after which they may be staged in other performing arts centers or move to Broadway. [3]

A concept album is planned for release prior to the musical's opening. [1]

Wildhorn and Murphy previously collaborated on The Civil War and Count of Monte Cristo. Boyd has directed productions of Wildhorn's Svengali, Jekyll and Hyde, and The Civil War. [1]
