Tibia Game Article

Hey everyone, User talk:Viva La Kimzen created an alternate article on Tibia here Tibia Game and it's up for AfD. I don't think it stands a good chance due to an obvious data conflict, but the editor seems passionate about the game and wikipedia so I'd like to ask the Tibia editing community to help guide this user in the right direction. Maybe some editors more familiar with the game than I am could read Kimzen's article and see if there is any information that should be merged or contact User talk:Viva La Kimzen about areas where this Tibia article can be improved, giving Kimzen a place to make useful contributions. Thanks to anyone who takes the time.--Torchwood Who? (talk) 15:13, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some items removed by Ant

I've removed a section referring to a 2003 update and giving an incomplete and highly opinionated description of some new modes (skull, duel and party). If reintroduced, this should be sourced adequately, and any reasoning given in the article for the introduction of these modes should be sourced to public announcements by the site owners at the very least. --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 09:58, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've also removed this from a section about a 2006 update:

A contentious inclusion is CIPs addition of tools which were previously illegal cheats but have now become standard. Some are opposed to the addition as it "ruins role-play" and takes away from the skill involved in player versus player combat. Others like the change for the obvious benefits, and because laggier players can now participate in combat more easily. The presumed goal is to bring all players on an equal playing field by giving everyone use of the tools.

This also appears somewhat opinionated. If included, it should be either stripped to the bare details or the opinion should be reasonably reliably sourced (just so we know it isn't some personal opinion). ==Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 10:02, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed this from the Cheating section:

Many free account players commonly complain about the understaffed gamemasters. Most gamemasters are volunteers and are often overwhelmed with not only many reports of rule-breaking, but are often mobbed and abused by regular players when they do appear.

It would be good to see some sourcing for this as it could be read as an unsourced moan about poor support. --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 10:06, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed this:

The test is a source of frustration and controversy for two major reasons. The first is that some questions have tricky wording and getting as little as one question wrong counts as a fail. The second problem is the matter of test spoilers. Some members of the Tibia community have little respect for the justice system in Tibia and will post the correct answers to all of the questions so that even people that do not even understand the game are capable of passing the test. Fortunately, such tutors often do not last long between inactivity and sending/receiving bad reports.

Again, looks like an unsourced moan. Accounts of negative features like this are an invaluable part when they are sourced and balanced, but they must be sourced so we have some idea of how important they're considered by the general users of the game. This is already difficult to do when there isn't a lot of external critique of the game (if there is such critique in reliable sourced, please do add it!) --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 10:10, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

There was a spate of vandalism tonight. I think I wiped it all, but I'm not familiar with the game so someone may want to check that the version I reverted to was clean TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 00:44, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name of Countries

Is it really needed to name the main countries player come from? I don't see the convention used on another other popular gaming articles. Nick Garvey (talk) 22:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have marked that with {{fact}}, if that is going to be here I would love for that to be cited. I've also removed some external links, some were already linked to on the page, the others irrelevant (they provide no references, were mere advertising) -- 203.194.42.92 (talk) 04:52, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page contents

Is it right for this page to contain such indepth information such as the games 'vocation system'? I'm OK for a quick overview and the development of it, but the rest of it just sounds like spam. -- 6Sixx (talk) 10:04, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A mess

This article is in a bit of a mess...i don't have time to clean it up now, but i will try and find time soon. Masterhatch (talk) 18:58, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I spent some time cleaning up. Still needs more work. I will try to get to it later. Masterhatch (talk) 23:39, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Less players

There are about 300,000 players.

Note of controversy regarding alleged unoriginality?

There's some controversy about allegations of Tibia being a blatant ripoff of Crossfire, due to its similar playstyle and interface. Suggest further research? 216.82.142.13 (talk) 22:06, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing on OpenTibia?

There is no information on OpenTibia at all in the article, and yet it actually has more mean players online than Tibia itself (thus probably making it the most successfull server emulator ever?). I request some information on the subject to be added to the article at the least. 85.230.173.234 (talk) 15:26, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
