Jonah Jeremiah "JJ" Jones, is a fictional character in British teen drama series Skins. He is portrayed by Ollie Barbieri.
Characterisation
JJ is quite self-concious and nervous in his own skin, especially around girls, so much so that he finds it hard to communicate with them on a confident level and in-turn resorts to his love of magic tricks in order to impress people. The friends he does have however are Freddie Mclair and James Cook, whom he considers his best friends and is extremely loyal to, so this only further affects him after Freddie and Cook have a falling out.
Because of his shy nature, JJ's opinion is frequently over-looked and ignored by his friends who are much more out-going and louder than himself, he is also bossed around a lot too, this is evident when in JJ's centric episode his is told by Freddie that he must choose between himself and Cook.
He suffers from a form of Autism and because of this, in the past he has referred to himself as 'not normal' during a conversation with Emily Fitch, who he discovers goes to the same psychiatric clinic as him. After this, he and Emily spend a bit more time together, developing a friendship, eventually leading to JJ losing his virginity to her, but only as a "one-time" offer of pity sex on the basis of Emily being a lesbian.
Later on in the series, even though they come few and far between, JJ has moments of outburst in which he verbally attacks a certain individual. This is evident in his own centric episode and in Episode Eight 'Effy' where he screams at Cook, saying that he should "Fuck Off because nobody here likes you."
