Holman is a small town on the west coast of Victoria Island, in the Northwest Territories in Canada. It is located at at 70'43'N latitude and 117'45'W longitude. The population usually hovers around 400, but the 2000 census showed an increase, when 470 residents were counted. Like other communities in the territories, hunting, trapping, and fishing are major sources of income, but art printmaking has taken over as the primary source of income in recent years.
The two principle languages in Holman are Inuinnaqtun and English. In 1923, the first Hudson Bay Company post was opened, and finally settled where the town of Holman is located today, on inlets of the Amundsen Gulf.
