Miley Cyrus/Demi Lovato biatch fight

I heard Ryan Seacrest on American Top 40 talke about how Miley Cyrus was a bit of a biatch to Demi Lovato and was wondering whether wikipedia includes news etc cuz Im a bit new to it all!!Anyway Im not sure how to include an audio as bibliography but it is here (http://www.miley5.net/podcasts/audio/miley5_celebrity_scoop_090105.mp3). No, we shouldn't include such material.—Kww(talk) 12:11, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wizard's of Waverly Place - the Movie

Demi is NOT goinf to be in the WOWP movie! She said it in a J-14 interview - Feb. 2009 issue. So why is someone adding it all the time? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.205.152.127 (talk) 23:38, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Heritage

Demi Lovato looks like a mix of Mexican and some European descent. Can someone find out more about her herritage please? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.248.237.217 (talk) 03:38, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Find an interview where she talks to it directly or that has a record of actual ancestors. Don't presume anything based on your evaluation of her appearance. --NrDg 04:31, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with NrDg! Demi is actually a little bit Italian and Greek, I think. ♥, calliegal_x (talk) 04:43, 7 May 2008 (UTC)Calliegal[reply]

Her imdb page says that her herritage is Hispanic, Italian and Irish. is she of all those herritages? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Foxcloud (talkcontribs) 20:03, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB is not a reliable source for bio info so can't be used as a reference. If that info is not in this article and well referenced, we can't add the categories. --NrDg 20:14, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB is written by user contribution, so it doesn't meet Wikipedia standards for reliability.

Proposed merge - Demi Lovato discography

Any objections? BradV 16:36, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's ridiculous not having Lovato's discography on her biography. So just put it back ... --Don-dk (talk) 10:39, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say do it! It is rediculous that she has a seperate discography page, while she doesn not even have one album out, let alone some real charting singles. If her own page was so full of info, okay, but it's not, so this should be merged asap! -- Luigi-ish (talk) 21:43, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the merge, she doesn't have an official singles album out so she doesn't need a Discography page. Edgehead5150 (talk) 13:03, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge it, already. She's not that important that she warrants two separate articles. Beemer69 chitchat 15:20, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the discography is incorrect... the song "Get Caught," which Demi performs on tour, is not in the list, and there is no source listed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.197.9.47 (talk) 07:09, 8 August 2008 (UTC) MERGE IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What To Put In

ok hi I'm mini no ipod, and i think we should say in her Personal Life section that she is Chirstian, has a YouTube show with BFF Selena Gomez called the Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez Show, and she confirmed with M Magazine that she is NOT dating Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, or anybody else. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mini no ipod (talkcontribs) 16:41, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I mean after Dec 2007, because I can't find any proof that aceshowbiz.com is being blacklisted right now.[reply]

That is the question, how come a website which already in whitelist , is considered blacklist, by the system ? Kingcomp (talk) 16:56, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The whitelist request only allowed your site to be referenced in Jonas Brothers. No other place in Wikipedia can reference it. That's what a whitelist does: it allows an individual article to reference an individual blacklisted site. Aceshowbiz.com is listed on the [Spam blacklist]. Added in August, 2006. You've been blacklisted across every Wikipedia version in every language.—Kww (talk) 17:21, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(Kingcomp (talk) 16:05, 30 September 2008 (UTC)) So you believe that Demi Lovato' exclusive interview at AceShowbiz is a fake ? What is different between 'sites that is no longer blacklisted' and 'site that was blacklisted' ? How easy for a user determine a website as 'unreliable source' ?[reply]

You want to wander over to WP:RS and WP:RSN to discuss reliability issues. I won't say that you are unreliable per se, although having been placed on the spam blacklist certainly undermines any credibility you might have. What I can say is that I don't see any new information in that article, so there isn't any particular reason to link to it. One other note: please put your signature at the end like everyone else ... it's really confusing to edit this thread with your signature in a different place.Kww (talk) 16:32, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Life Thingy

ok seriously someone needs to talk down this sections part where she said she likes Dimu Borgir. its clear thats she doesnt actually like them because they are a satanic black metal band and Demi is clearly Christian. She likes bands like Paramore not this satanic crap. Can someone please change it because it wont let me for some reason.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.30.24.146 (talkcontribs) 04:58, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The reason you can't edit it is the page is protected: unregistered users cannot edit the page. Why? Well, we were getting too many fan-ish edits. In other words, too many people were editing to add what they thought was true, rather than what reliable sources said was true.
Case in point: You may think Lovato wouldn't like Dimu Borgir, but a reliable source (cited in the article) says she does. - SummerPhD (talk) 20:44, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wizards of Waverly Place

What happened to the information regarding Demi's involvement in Wizards of Waverly Place:The Movie? Is it because this information was provided by unsourced content? --Geekboy6 (talk) 03:22, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From edit history removed by Edgehead5150 (talk · contribs) with comment "not a reliable source" --NrDg 15:33, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As to why it was removed I suggest communicating with Edgehead5150 and asking him why he considers OceanUp not a reliable source. I personally don't consider it generally reliable as it is basically a gossip website that propagates rumors and does not have a reputation for fact checking. In this case the primary source of information used by OceanUp was from a blog posting. Blogs are generally not considered reliable sources but this one is usually pretty accurate and has been allowed to stay as a reference in Selena Gomez and Wizards of Waverly Place for info on the movie. It would be better overall, though, to wait for a Disney press release or an article in some major news source like Variety. --NrDg 21:39, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Religious or Atheist?

The category "American Christians" is no longer in the categories section below the page, which means that Demi may not be Christian, is of another faith or is an atheist.

Did she ever say that she was ever a Christian, of another faith or an atheist?

Ожиданиесчастья (talk) 08:21, 27 December 2008 (UTC)'[reply]

There is not any reliably sourced, verifiable information in the article for a classification to be made. See WP:BLP#Categories for the reason I removed this category. Lack of information one way or the other implies ONLY lack of information. It does not imply anything else. If someone wants to categorize this, find a verifiable reliable source that meets the requirements of WP:BLP and shows explicitly (that means not by implication of other info) in the article that
  • Lovato publicly self-identifies with the belief in question;
  • Lovato's beliefs are relevant to the her notable activities or public life, according to reliable published sources.

Tony Lovato relation?

Is she related to Tony Lovato of Mest? Or do they just share the same last name? Any ideas? --67.34.188.252 (talk) 15:51, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have any source to confirm this, but I don't think they're related as in "family". --Kanonkas :  Talk  16:09, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Camp Rock friends

"She is also good friends with the Jonas Brothers, Meaghan Jette Martin, and Alyson Stoner." Is that sentence really necessary? I mean she probably did share a friendship to her castmates from Camp Rock, but where is the source that says that she's good friends with all of them? For all we know, they could just be acquaintances. Might as well put on Selena Gomez's channel that she's good friends with David Henrie and Jennifer Stone as well. I'm not doubting the sentence. I just want to know its source. --Geekboy6 (talk) 07:46, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Every actor in existence is ALWAYS good friends with the people they work with. This is, in opinion, not notable as it is too common, expected and always so commonly stated (why "dog bites man" is not news). Her real long term, non situational friend IS Selena Gomez and that is well referenced. The others are just meaningless professional "friends". --NrDg 15:36, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity

What ethnicity is Demi Lovato? This article used to say that she's of Hispanic, Italian, and Irish decent. Is she Hispanic or is she just white? --Geekboy6 (talk) 17:35, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was removed because the reference used was to an old copy of this article extracted by a gossip site. If ethnicity matters to her, find a reference in a reliable source that reports what she says it is. Gossip sites, blogs, fansites etc. don't count as reliable sources. --NrDg 18:07, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dating

I've read on many websites that she and Alex DeLeon, Lead Vocalist for The Cab are dating. I think this should be on the personal Life section. If not, then at least that they are very good friends. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Qwertluis (talkcontribs) 23:42, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We generally don't put gossip or trivial information in articles about people - that is what fan sites are for. For a good reference read WP:BLP for an overview of what bio articles should contain. If this information is covered by sources that meet WP:RS reliable source requirements and we can verify that what is in the article is what the source stated then it might be a good addition to the article. Find a url to a web location that is not a gossip site, a fan site or a blog. A good source will have some statement from one of the principals. Conjectures based on seeing them at the same place at the same time doesn't prove anything. --NrDg 23:53, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I just added it with a reference of him being inteviewed about it. -Qwertluis
It appears that a couple of editors don't want this in the article. Reason is that a declaration of friendship is by the other person and has not been confirmed by Lovato. This is basically trivia anyway as this friendship doesn't really mean anything as it doesn't effect her in any notable way. --NrDg 02:07, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

American Rock Pianists

Can we place Demi under this category? She does indeed play piano, and her music is rock influenced. --Geekboy6 (talk) 03:20, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of people play the piano - it is a fairly common skill widely taught. Not many are good enough to make a living from it. Does she perform her music as a pianist like Billy Joel or Elton John? If not, this is just personal bio trivia unrelated to anything she is notable for. Adding her to the category is a bit of an insult to those that really belong in it. --NrDg 03:53, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wrist Cutting

In the article it says that Demi Lovato is a wristcutter, but yet there is little evidence to support that. Yes, Demi did used to listen to heavy metal and very hardcore rock in her younger days, but this does not support this stupid opinion. If you say something like " she must have she was wearing bands over her wrist to stop it from being shown" then you are stupid because as it were at that time alot of people wore fashion bands on their wrists. When someone suplies me with evidence for this then i will belive it, but until then i am completely protesting about the statement.

Nothing in the article says that she IS a wrist cutter, the article just states that there were photos that lead some people to think that she is a wrist cutter. FrehleySpace Ace 12:21, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes so if this statment is not a fact i do not see why it should be included in a biography of Demi. Its pointless and misleading, so why do it. As i said before about the photo alot of people were wearing gummy bracelets at this time as they were a big fashion hit. She wears them to accessorise like she would a belt or jewlery, not to cover up imaginary wrist cuts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Benbenben1 (talkcontribs) 19:01, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The statement in the article is factual:
1) photos of Lovato surfaced
2) some saw them as indicating Lovato is a wrist cutter
3) Lovato's publicist said not so.
You may not like the implication. You might think it has something to do with heavy metal. However, the article factually describes the incident. Nothing to do with heavy metal, nothing to do with anyone here speculating. - SummerPhD (talk) 19:10, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Again so why is this section of the article up on the biography it is certainly misleading and although you are fighting a good fight to us, now many people will still not hear what you are saying about this so therefore it is misleading and quite purposfully or it would not be there. Why bring it up if you do not want slate Demi? Also i didnt say it had anything to do with heavy metal if you read it properly i said that demi used to listen to metal but this does not mean she slits her wrists. I admit first off i was wrong about the statement not being a fact but it is misleading in many ways. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Benbenben1 (talkcontribs) 20:13, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Judging from SummerPhD's edit history, I doubt she wants to "slate" Demi Lovato. I suspect she is just one of the few adults that has volunteered to wade through the quagmire of Disney Channel articles in order to protect them from their fans.—Kww(talk) 20:19, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I did not mean that SummerPhD is out to slate Demi Lovato. I doubt she is. I ment whoever has put the article into the biography has clearly put it in to slate her. Also wouldnt trying to delete this article do good for the millions of children that google Demi Lovatos name every day. I mean saying that Demi Lovato - A well known Disney Icon - might self harm isnt the best example as alot of kids these days copy there idols. There is enough of these kids who kill themselfs in the news already. Sorry to go to extremes, but you get me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Benbenben1 (talkcontribs) 20:28, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would have no problem removing that part as I don't see how it adds anything to the understanding of the personal life of Lovato. It is factually reporting the false perception of others saying more about the reporters and gossipers, not of Lovato. It is basically saying there was this perception of Lovato and it is false. Why have referenced-to-be-false information in the article? Leaving it in the article does flavor the perceptions towards Lovato and that is on the edge of derogatory. --NrDg 20:37, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, someone who agrees with what i am saying. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Benbenben1 (talkcontribs) 21:01, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I removed that info per above and Wikipedia:Blp#Basic_human_dignity. If anybody wants it back please continue the discussion here instead of reverting. --NrDg 22:28, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That seems reasonable. (Note: Though I did not add that particular section, I did substantially reword it[1][2] and improve the sourcing[3]. Slating Lovato was not my intent, I think the Disney-related articles (generally) need serious work. Edits to these articles seem to fall into three categories: 1) 49.5% fawning (X is a squeaky-clean Christian and best friends with every other squeaky-clean Disney star) 2) 49.5% slamming (X said something really rude and likes death metal) 3) 1% moderating and sourcing 1 & 2. As a type 3 editor here, I tend to suspect any edit that seems to fit #1 or #2 and stick with the sources. Source what you add (to reliable sources, not blogs) and cite policies/guidelines and you won't have problems with me. - SummerPhD (talk) 14:25, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The original was added, removed, then added again by the same editor. I chose to not make a fuss at that time to see how this played out as it was referenced. I didn't like it then either. This article gets regularly protected to reduce the fawning/slamming. I strongly appreciate your efforts to help keep these articles within WP:BLP bounds. I does seem a bit like a quagmire at times. --NrDg 16:13, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
[4] I didn't realize this was removed. If a rumour gets traction, in many cases I think it's good to report the denial of the rumour, or it just keeps coming back here. Gimmetrow 22:08, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Female rock singers and American rock singers??!

I was browsing the Category:Female rock singers and Category:American rock singers, and I must say It's was kind of weird seeing Demi Lovato on it (since she does Teen pop, Pop rock). Look I know pop rock has some influence from rock music but so does Indie pop (that's more from alternative rock) and Electric folk, and they are not rock just influenced by it. Please she doesn't belong in that category. If she does then be sure to include her in Category:American rock singer-songwriters category! If no one replies in a day I will personally remove it myself. Unless anyone says against it. I also can't believe she's not included in the Category:American pop singers categories. Cutting Controversy

Cutter Controversy

In Early 2009 rumors aroused about Demi possibly being a cutter. In a picture of her at Miley's sweet 16 she had her wrist hanging out and thee were indintations on her wrist that looked like cut marks. Her rep responded by saying they were bracelet marks that really tight on her. But many people think she is because she wears a lot of balck some of her music dark or punkish and she wears dark makeup. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyle792 (talkcontribs) 21:12, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
