Erin Karpluk (born 17 October 1978)[1] is a Canadian television actress. She is best known for her leading role in Godiva's and in Being Erica.

Career

Born in Jasper, Alberta[2][3] of Ukrainian descent,[4] to a high school principal, she studied theatre at the University of Victoria receiving a bachelor's degree of fine arts in theatre.[5] She began her acting career in Vancouver and between 2000 and 2005 she appeared in more than a dozen television series and TV movies before landing the role of Kate in Godiva's. Her work during this period included "Voice of Sylan" in the final episode of Dark Angel and the TV movie Family Sins. She was in Legend of Earthsea (2004) and she played a serial killer in Ripper II (also 2004).[6] She was also in a shortlived US television series called Glory Days (2002). Karpluk earned a Leo nomination for her first season of Godiva's and a 2006 Gemini nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role.[7]

Since Godiva's, Karpluk has continued to work in television and short films. In 2007 she appeared in Bionic Woman, Flash Gordon, and The L Word.[3] She has a leading role in a new television movie slated for release in 2008, Smokejumpers, directed by John Terlesky.
