Kate Mitchell (neé Morton, undercover name: Tyler) was a fictional character in the BBCsoap operaEastEnders played by Jill Halfpenny. She met Phil Mitchell during the time when Jamie was dying in hospital. She was a shoulder for him to cry on. They embarked on a relationship, but it was revealed that Kate was an undercover police officer, looking for details on the disappearance of Phil's ex, Lisa Fowler. Kate fell in love with Phil, resigned from the police and married him. They spilt up when Phil returned to a life of crime. She stayed in Walford running the nail bar SophistiKate's and had a breif affair with her business partner, Chrissie Watts's husband, Den Watts. She left Walford when a police job came up in Brighton.
