"Boom Boom Pow" is a song by the Black Eyed Peas released as the lead single from their upcoming album The E.N.D.. All members of the Black Eyed Peas use the Auto-Tune effect on the song. The single sold 465,000 first-week digital downloads, the third largest number of download-sales in one week ever. It has become the group's first number-one single in the United States, topping the U.S. Hot 100 and Pop 100 charts.[3] The song has also reached #1 in Canada, and charted in the top ten U.S. Rap Singles.
Release
"Boom Boom Pow" was stated as a single, and released to mainstream radio on March 10th. "Boom Boom Pow" was released officially on iTunes in the US on March 30, 2009. It became number 1 on the iTunes chart after a day.
Reception
Billboard gave the song a positive review, stating that the song "shows the Black Eyed Peas in fine form" and that it was "a knockout".[4]
Song references
"Boom Boom Pow" has no prevalent song samples, but features a reference to Daft Punk's 2001 single, "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", sang by apl.de.ap as "harder, faster, better, stronger".
Music video
Fergie had stated at an interview on The Insider that the music video would be shooting the week of March 8, 2009.[5] Apl.de.ap confimed that they started filming it on March 9.[6]
The making of the video was released by MTV on April 8.[7]
The music video, directed by Mathew Cullen, will be released on April 13,[8] along with the new Black Eyed Peas Channel on Dipdive.[9]
