Wiseblood is the fifth album by Corrosion of Conformity. Its name comes from the novel Wise Blood, written by Southern Gothic author Flannery O'Conner. At the time of this albums release, many critics said that this is the record Metallica should have made instead of Load, as it has a heavier sound, Load was released around the same time, and Pepper Keenan's voice is similar to that of James Hetfield's (who is actually a guest singer on the track Man Or Ash). In fact James was asked in an interview that very question, where he replied "we (Metallica) don't sound anything like them"[citation needed]
