King of All Excuses (Staind song)

"King of All Excuses", is the fourth and final single to be released off of American alternative metal band Staind's, fifth studio album, "Chapter V". "King of All Excuses", is most likely the least popular single to be released off of the album Chapter V, being the last single to be released for the album, and barely being known to casual listeners, due to high demand and popularity of Staind's hit single off of Chapter V, and of the year 2005, thier single, "Right Here".

Lyrical Meaning

The exact meaning behind "King of All Excuses", is unknown. Due to the single's lack of popularity, questions concerning the song have not been asked during interviewing of the band, and lead singer Aaron Lewis has not openly gave any elaborate background information or history involveing the song's inspiration. Although during few concerts played over the time span of the Chapter V tour and album era through early 2005 to late 2006, before the song was performed, Aaron Lewis would introduce the song briefly by shareing a brief amount of insight about the meaning behind, "King of All Excuses", by saying:

"This next song, is about a piece of shit excuse for a person."

With no thorough information to gather an understanding about "King of All Excuses", one would interpret from the lyrics of the single, that the song has most likely been inspired by an individual that Aaron Lewis knew personaly from either someone involved with the band Staind, or someone he knew form his family or personal life. The song has an angry and violent tone to the lyrics and rythem, possibly makeing, "King of All Excuses", Staind's heaviest single and overall song off of the Album Chapter V. The lyrics reveal the person Aaron Lewis is single's out and addressing during the song, as a compulsive liar, that took advantage of Aaron Lewis's trust and friendship during some point in Aaron's life, and caused damage to either Aaron's personal life and family, or the person's own. (Due to the album's release date, one would assume rather recently at the time during the recording of the album, "Chapter V" in 2005.)
