Trodat Printy
Trodat's most famous and successful product is the Trodat Printy. This is a self-inking rubber stamp first manufactured in 1976. It quickly became the absolute bestseller in the stamping and marking industries. In 2004 the Printy had sold 150 million, making it the most popular self-inking rubber stamp in the world.
The reason for the unparallelled success of the Trodat Printy lies in its ingenious design. Almost 30 years ago, the founder of the Trodat company, Walter Just, was on a quest to find out how the legendary "Vienna pocket stamp tin" could be redesigned into a self-inking stamping device. In 1976, the initial production lot was run for the first self-inking, plastic stamp - The Trodat Printy, with integrated ink pad.
The first two generations of the Printy were copied multiple times, but in 2003 Trodat unveiled the third generation with the marketing slogan: "Dear competitors, here is a new design you may copy." Up until now, there are no copycat designs of the new Printy on the international market.
