Rock of Love is an American reality television dating game show. It features Bret Michaels, the lead singer from the band Poison. The show closely resembles its sister show Flavor of Love.
The first season featured 25 girls competing for Bret's heart. The girls faced challenges; the winners of each challenge spent time with Bret on a "date". Some of the challenges were based on situations they might encounter if chosen to be Bret's girl. The winner was 24 year-old, Jes Rickleff from Naperville, Illinois. At the reunion she revealed she did not have romantic feelings for Bret, and that she thought he should have chosen the runner-up, Heather.
The second season featured another set of 20 women. This time around Bret chose 37 year-old Ambre Lake from Los Angeles, California. After the show the two maintained a relationship, but parted ways after just a few months.
The third season premiered on January 4, 2009. The finale of the third season was a series high for VH1.[1]

Controversies

The two finalists: Heather and Jes. Jes won the first season; however, it was revealed in the reunion show that Jes did not have strong enough feelings for Bret. Jes felt that her connection with Bret was not nearly as strong as the connection between Bret and Heather, and therefore, she believed that Bret made the wrong decision in the finale.
- Season Two
Controversy arose when the contestants' ex-boyfriends came to the house. It was revealed that Daisy had been living with her ex-boyfriend, Charles, in a one bedroom apartment for two years.
A breach-of-contract lawsuit was filed against the show's producers as well as Bret Michaels by the owner of the mansion, Ray Sahranavard. He claims that there was about $380,000 worth of damages done to the mansion, and that the producers failed to get insurance that they had previously promised to purchase for the house. Sahranavard stated that there were multiple holes in the walls and ceilings, the doors had been removed, and that almost the entire interior of the house had been repainted. He also claimed that most of the landscaping was either dead or dying.[2]
- Season Three
A crew member from the 51 Minds Entertainment production of the ‘Rock Of Love Bus’ series on VH1 was involved in an auto accident on Interstate 57 in southern Illinois on a Friday afternoon. The crew member, who is not an associate of Bret Michaels or part of his tour staff, was traveling alone to the next location stop for the series. The accident resulted in two fatalities in one car and injuries to two passengers in another vehicle. The crew member survived and has been released from the hospital.
