The City of Palmerston is a Local Government Area of the Northern Territory. The council covers an area of 13.5 km² and has a population of about 1,250. Jabiru Town council centres around the town of Jabiru.

Jabiru is a Special Purpose Town in the Northern Territory and is governed by the Jabiru Town Development Authority.

History

The town's municipal services are provided by the Jabiru Town Council, which was incorporated on the 1 July 1984 by an amendment to the Act, requested by the Jabiru Town Development Authority.

The first Council meeting was held in July 1984, and every two years the council elects. The rest of the Northern Territory councils are elected every four years.
