Re Rehoboth Carpenter

The original page was written by me. It was just an innocent portrait of a New England family. The individual (Genezub) who attempted to obliterate what I had done, wanted the page to reflect his genealogical studies which are techinical and boring. Everything I stated in the original page is self-explainatory and in need of no further explaination. The one point of speculation re. the Culham origin of this family in no way attempts to offer it as anything else i.e. a surmise --Iwanafish (talk) 07:02, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Iwanafish - It is apparent you have a personal problem. I have been watching what has been going on. Your deliberate reverts without comments or explanations, your removal of warnings, your removal of formating, inline sourcing and wiki formats tell me you have no desire to help wikipedia. You are only here for your glorfication. If I signed in with my own user name, you are the type of person to seek revenge in petty and stupid ways. You have a track record that stinks and anyone can see it. You are a wiki bully and worse. 75.162.132.144 (talk) 18:38, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

William Woodruff

Hello, I'm processing the photo release for William Woodruff. I believe you need a ticket number, which would be 2009043010051169. Let me know if you need any more info. howcheng {chat} 17:09, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, never mind. I thought she was having you upload the photo, but it was attached to the OTRS ticket, so I uploaded it and added it to the article after all. howcheng {chat} 18:14, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

adding photos

OMG---is there not a simple way to add a few photos to an existing page I wrote? I have been reading about this topic and Commons and copyright on Wikipedia and find it all amazingly tedious. These are promotional corporate photos, w/ copyright held by the corp, and I have the corporation's permission to use them. I just don't want to spend 20 hours getting these into the article. You have helped me before and seem like you could simplify the matter for me. Please and thank you. --WBancroft (talk) 20:47, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

images

Thanks for the suggestion. That sounds a tiny bit more simple. I may be back in touch as this process unfolds and I feel like I'm losing my mind just trying to post a photo. --WBancroft (talk) 20:59, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Current DYK

I realise that, but it's referring to what they were called before they became Navy ships. "Henry Tudor beat Richard III at the Battle of Hastings"- he wasn't Henry VII until after the victory, just as they were not HMS X until after they were accepted into the Navy, which is what the hook is about. Adding names to chronological list of names

Hi. Thanks for your reply to my question about editing the LIst of Supreme Court clerks. I still am pretty confused. I'd like to add a name to the Stewart clerks, but I still can't figure out how to get to the place with the list of names and an edit function that shows me the template for the information.Wingate44 (talk) 03:42, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mibbit AfD

I've completely rewritten the Mibbit article so you may wish to revisit Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mibbit. The AfD nominator has also since been blocked. [1] Tothwolf (talk) 10:51, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CSD

Hi UKexpat, hope you don't mind but I've downgraded Brian Cannon to a notability tag as "most successful and accomplished professional wrestler." is IMHO an assertion of notability. ϢereSpielChequers 18:48, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello -- Can you answer my questions?

I am wondering how the Wikipedia messages are appearing at the top of the Triple Point article? Who is allowed to add them? Can they be removed? Jen Svensson (talk) 18:11, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the input

I wasn't too concerned about the search engines, I was really just curious if I had missed a step in the article-making process.

Thanks! --Back on My Feet (talk) 18:12, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adding to list

Thanks for the information. It sounds far too complicated. Another message suggested that I could put the information on a talk page and have a regular editor add it. Is this a process you are familiar with? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wingate44 (talkcontribs) 19:52, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

my name in red!

good evening, please could you tell me why my name appears in red ? is it because I haven't been here for a while (I was busy in the French)? many thanks in advance Hope&Act3! (talk) 20:54, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ah! OK, I didn't know that. It so happened that I registered in order to participate in the competition in the French wiki (I translated the History of the Kurdish People) and there too I haven't really created my user's page (except for the mention of my participation in the said competition, well may be that sufficed...) and since I've been too busy, so I'll fix that, I wonder how though. thanks again, Hope&Act3! (talk) 21:22, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I added a Babel box and I'm blue (and never the less happy indeed), now why History of the Kurdish People does appear in red -that article is extant- ? can you answer that one ? I'm confused, thank you and good night Hope&Act3! (talk) 21:51, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
well done ! I almost thought of that but discarded it... too much self confidence, shame on me. since you're still not sleeping, how about an early breakfast ? you'll be my guest but you have to come to my city (Jerusalem) OK Hope&Act3! (talk) 00:08, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well that was certainly inefficient of us. :) I probably should have assumed you were in the middle of answering the others too. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:02, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewing a New Article

Hello UKexpat. Thanks for your advice on images in response to my query yesterday. I have posted a new article on Wikipedia and I was wondering if you would go look at it and see if you spot any "problems" or have any advice for me. I have great black and white photos to add but since that is such a process, those will come later. Just want your opinion overall of notability and if I'm meeting Wiki standards (I think I am). The article is titled James Edward Hanger. Thanks.--WBancroft (talk) 03:17, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have listed the above article at WP:WikiProject Biography/Peer review/Harold Pinter and wonder if you would have time to give the article a thorough peer review. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 14:27, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Input on Mumble-Jumble

Ukexpat, Thanks for your input on my post. There are a number of news paper articles and TV new reports which reported events about Mumble-Jumble. Could you direct me to a Wiki page that could show me how to include these references. Thanks again! --69.250.195.38 (talk) 14:49, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Respecting Living Persons

Leaving a red AfD flag on a "deleted" bio page of a living person is not a deletion of that bio at all. Instead it creates a very negative image of that person when people visit the URL. It implicitly represents a judgment and a disqualification and thus impugns the excellent reputation of the individual. For the sake of fairness and neutrality Wikipedia must adopt and implement a policy that differentiates between a living person and an impersonal subject matter when installing templates that might cast aspersions. If you chose not to include a biographical article about a living person in your encyclopedia that is fine, but out of respect and commitment to neutrality, please make sure to remove and blank any red flags and tags and all references to deletion, in order to preserve the individual's good name and standing in contemporary society. Thank you. - CulturalUniverse Wikipédien aux pieds nus 22:40, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question on Flags and wiki

I wonder why the flag icon has been removed from company info box as i followed template from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hogg_Robinson_Group, if this article allowed flag then Remote Lands should also allow flag :)

James Edward Hanger

Thanks for the nomination and the complements. Thanks also for improving the references and simply taking the time to be interested. After my first article and numerous issues/rewrites, I tired to be extra objective, clear, well documented on this one. James Edward Hanger is an interesting figure, don't you think? Truly, his work changed many thousands of lives for the better. What's the DYK stand for? You made my day...actually, my week!!!--WBancroft (talk) 16:47, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a ton for helping to shut down Wikilore. The guy has been trying to revert that page for MONTHS. You and MikeWelch did a great job and also showed how to shut down a miscreant like that. Thanks!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.219.235.234 (talk) 01:47, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ENEMIES WITHIN

Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. Vandalism cannot and will not be tolerated. Common types of vandalism are the addition of obscenities or crude humor, page blanking, and the insertion of nonsense into articles.

Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism. Even harmful edits that are not explicitly made in bad faith are not vandalism. For example, adding a controversial personal opinion to an article once is not vandalism; reinserting it despite multiple warnings is (however, edits/reverts over a content dispute are never vandalism, see WP:EW). Not all vandalism is obvious, nor are all massive or controversial changes vandalism. Careful thought may be needed to decide whether changes made are beneficial, detrimental but well-intended, or outright vandalism.

Enemies Within did not deliberatly attempt to comprimise the integrity of Wikipedia. According to your rules vandalism are the addition of obscenities or crude humor, page blanking, and the insertion of nonsense into articles. I did not do any of those things. I made an edit adding factual information and gave my source. I did everything in good faith. Brown Brother Harriman has a lot of evil to hide I was just speaking on that. My input was well-intended, it was not outright bull**** or vandalism I was reinserting the truth, vandalism should at least be a lie. Now, I would like to add to Brown Brothers Harriman without being labeled a vandal and threaten with banishment.Enemies within (talk) 09:27, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A call for peace & sensible debate

All - I have been making edits as you well know in an attempt to take point of view (POV) comments out of Frank Lorenzo's page. Of course, folks on the other side of the table likely feel the same way about their edits. I urge us all to try a novel approach and stick to the facts and only the facts. I suggest we debate the facts in this discussion board, come to an agreement that excludes all POV and then implement this agreed upon data into the page. If we stick to the facts, I have no problem representing those in Frank Lorenzo's page.

Thus, in following I suggest we tackle the following first: currently the page has a heading that says "Banned by U.S. Department of Transportation." Frank was never banned by the US Department of Transportation. If anyone disagrees, I suggest they provide government documentation to support this claim. The facts are that an application by a company called ATX Inc. was submitted and was declined by the US Department of Transportation under the newly elected Clinton Administration, which is well documented. Frank was a Director and investor in ATX, Inc. He was never banned and such language paints a negative picture. Please provide further factual edits to the following below with a view to posting it once we all agree:

"ATX Inc. Lorenzo was part of a group of executives that formed ATX, Inc. and applied for an aviation license. He was a director and investor in ATX, Inc. Under the newly elected Clinton Administration, ATX, Inc.'s application was declined and the startup airline folded as a result."

I look forward to hearing others' constructive input and hope we can edit Frank's page with factual data only.

Sincerely,

Wikilore —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikilore (talkcontribs) 17:49, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just as an aside here, discussion on the content of the Frank Lorenzo page should take place at Talk:Frank Lorenzo, so as to involve all editors who wish to contribute. Dayewalker (talk) 17:57, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, Talk:Frank Lorenzo is the appropriate place for this content discussion. Of course if User:Wikilore had actually engaged in such a discussion when these issues first arose... – ukexpat (talk) 18:16, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with your ugly opinion of my edit of Brown Brothers Harriman. The aggrivated terminology you used "diatribe" and "rant" shows you are not very open minded or concerned with the truth being published on wikipedia. The reference that I used to edit was just as direct as the reference used by the arthur of the article. I'm sure you have never checked the arthur's sources either. Besides "ranting" as you call it, is not vandalism "Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism." I was speaking facts which the arthur did not want revealed. Avril Harriman wiki and other wiki articles reveal these facts, so why shouldn't BBH. Anyway, I do agree I should not have keep reinserting after being warned. Good dayEnemies within (talk) 19:39, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Federal Election Commission members

Here are the six members of the Federal Election Commission, as of May 9, 2009.

You changed Caroline C. Hunter to Start class rather than Class C, but the other five commissioners are all Class C.

I wrote or rewrote all of these articles, and of course I disclaim any ownership, but I am trying to learn how to do new articles better. Perhaps I will move on to another federal commission or agency.

Why should any of these articles be rated Start rather than Class C? They have inline citations of reliable sources, whatever details about their lives that are available online, photos from the FEC except for McGahn, whose term has expired, and as far as I can do it, a neutral point of view. --DThomsen8 (talk) 15:32, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
