My prospective biography. Weird, I know, but can't a guy wish?
Taj Christian Ryan Dominic Magruder (born November 6, 1990) is the junior United States Senator from Pennsylvania and a member of the Democratic Party. Before his election to the U.S. Senate, Magruder was a six-term member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district from 2022 to 2034. The district incorporates parts of the Philadelphia suburbs, including most of Delaware County.
Magruder defeated three-term Republican incumbent Bill Shuster in the 2034 U.S. Senate election. He was re-elected by wide margins in 2040 and 2046. A member of the Democratic Leadership Council, Magruder is a self-described "liberal hawk" who supports abortion rights, gun control, and same-sex marriage but is known to take more moderate views on foreign policy and illegal immigration. He is the first biracial person or person of African American descent to represent Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate.
Early life
Magruder was born at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson, Maryland, to a white mother (of Irish, German, and French Canadian descent) and African American father (who had a Cherokee Indian grandmother). His father left the family when Magruder was still an infant, and he was raised by his mother and grandparents in Pennsylvania. His father would keep infrequent contact with him through the years. Magruder was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 10, and has used an insulin pump since he was a teenager. Once a devout Roman Catholic, he was a parishioner at St. John Neumann Church and even considered becoming a priest. Becoming disillusioned with religion as a whole, he left the Church in 2006 and became an atheist, embracing secular humanism. As a teenager, he worked as a cashier at Genuardi's.
Magruder discovered a passion for politics while volunteering for Hillary Rodham Clinton during her 2008 presidential campaign; Clinton would serve as a role model throughout his political career. He graduated from Radnor High School, where he was president of a multicultural student group, in June 2009, and then worked as a summer intern for State Senator Daylin Leach. He entered Penn State Brandywine in fall 2009.
Or in another alternate reality...
Taj Christian Ryan Dominic Cardinal Magruder (born November 6, 1990) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He is the tenth and current Archbishop of Philadelphia, having previously served as Bishop of Cleveland from 2036 to 2042. He was elevated to the cardinalate in 2045.
After graduating from Radnor High School in 2009, Magruder studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook, from where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Master's in Divinity. He was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Joseph Perry on June 29, 2017.
He then served as parochial vicar at St. John Neumann Church in Bryn Mawr until 2019, when he was sent to further his studies in Rome at the Pontifical North American College. He earned a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 2023. Upon his return to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, he was named parochial vicar at St. Katherine of Siena in Wayne. He served as vice-chancellor of the Archdiocese from 2026 to 2029, during which time he also taught theology at St. Charles Seminary. In 2029, he was named pastor of Holy Cross Church in Springfield.
On August 21, 2034, Magruder was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia and Titular Bishop of Garriana by Pope Clement XV. He received his episcopal consecration on the following December 8 from Archbishop Perry.
