Bruce Vento
Bruce Frank Vento (born October 7, 1940 - died October 10, 2000), American politician, was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from 1977 until his death in 2000. He represented the 4th District of Minnesota. He was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and was educated at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where he received his BA in 1961. He was a public school teacher in Minneapolis, Minnesota prior to entering politics. He served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1971 until 1976 before entering the House.
He is recognized for his efforts in cleaning the environment and promoting affordable housing. He died in 2000 while still a member of Congress from mesothelioma, which he had credited to possible exposure to asbestos.
