Interaction design

A sub-discipline of design which examines the role of embedded behaviors and intelligence in physical and virtual spaces. Sometimes referred to by the acronym "iD," interaction design has developed as a field of study in universities such as MIT, Carnegie-Mellon University, Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, and the Royal College of Art.
