Sir Charles Blois, 1st Baronet

Sir Charles Blois, 1st Bt. (14 September 1657 - 9 April 1738) was a politician, a member of parliament for both Ipswich and Dunwich. He was the son of Sir William Blois.

He married twice, first, to Mary Kemp, daughter of Sir Robert Kemp, 2nd Baronet, on 11 May 1680 at Ubbeston, Suffolk. They had three children, Robert Blois, William Blois, and Sir Charles Blois, 3rd Baronet.

Blois was created 1st Baronet Blois, of Grundisburgh and Cockfield Hall on 15 April 1686. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ipswich from May 1689 to 1695.2 In 1693 he moved to Cockfield Hall, Sussex, after inheriting from his aunt, Mary Brooke.

His second marriage was to Anne Hawtrey, circa 18 April 1694. They also had three children, John Blois, Reverend Sir Ralph Blois, 4th Baronet and Anne Blois. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dunwich between January 1700 and 1709.

He died on 9 April 1738 at age 80, and was buried at Grundisburgh.
