Request reason:

a joint impregnated with some other substance (I assume for most of the dream it’s formaldehyde but a later conversation at the pub where I remember initially receiving it indicates that a dusting of cocaine was involved) makes me manifest behaviours akin in the minds of onlookers to schizophrenia. I can’t seem to articulate my words properly – I only hear what I’ve said the next time I speak – if I say something it sounds awful, slurred, mixed-up etc. – the next time I say something I hear over it the previous thing I said, clearer than I thought but loud, almost drowning out my voice saying what it is attempting to now, while those I speak to are already responding to this loud, clear version, having heard it when I originally said it. This leads to confusion and fear on my part. I’m desperate for help but can’t make anyone understand. The main attack comes while talking to a projectionist/box-office fellow while using his cinema to view something rare I’ve been sent, but which also seems to be part of a season run by someone else. In other words, although the screening is happening as part of a run, I am interrupting it with apparent impunity. My behaviour worries him, it doesn’t trouble other patrons, of whom there appear to be none: at the time the screening seems just for me, only afterwards do I hear some reference to a season, which excites me, despite my fearful condition. Another note of confusion surrounds the place where I was given the joint: another memory, a memory in the context of the nightmare’s narrative, so to speak, indicates that this was a flat, which has an image close to a suburban back-bedroom. This is identified vaguely as Nicole’s house, I think. Curiously, in a moment of unusual analysis, I was aware of the nightmare-as-dream, and had the sense that the suburban-flat version of events was from a previous nightmare, or rather a previous instance of this nightmare narrative. The rare thing I’m trying to view at my local art-house cinema (which it looks nothing like but is identified with) seems to be a documentary about Monty Python, or something. Onto the disc after it has been placed something akin to an episode of Till Death Us to Part, which I don’t want to watch right now, leading me to pause it, or something.
