Jan Beránek

Jan Beránek was born on November 11, 1970. He is a Czech ecological activist, politician, employee of Greenpeace and member and former chairmain of Czech Green Party. He focuses on fight against nuclear energy.

He studied physics at The Univerzity of Jan Evangelista Purkyne in Brno from 1988 to 1990. Later, from 1993 to 1995 he studied sociology on The Masaryk's Univerzita at Brno.[1] He became vocal green activist, and between 2002 and 2005 he was elected as the head of The Czech Green Party. He was succeeded by Martin Bursík.

He currently works as expert at Greenpeace International at Amsterdam where he coordinates global fight against climate change.
