Valentia Island lies west of County Kerry in the Republic of Ireland. it is linked to the mainland by a bridge, and by a ferry which saild from Reenard Point to Knightstown, the island's main settlement.

Valentia is known for lying at the eastern end of the first transatlantic cable (laid in 1857). Attractions on the island include the gardens of Glenleam House, and the grotto with a statue of the Virgin Mary.
