Sandown High is a co-educational comprehensive high school located in Sandown on the Isle of Wight, England.

History

The school was established in 1970 [1]when the former Sandown Grammar and Fairway Secondary Modern schools merged at the Sandown High School site.In 2005, it gained status as a Sports College.[2] Recently, the school has become a Foundation School and proposes to lower the age range at the school from 13-19 years to 11-19 years. [3]

School System

It is one of five state-maintained high schools on the Isle of Wight. The others being Carisbrooke High School, Cowes High School, Medina High School and Ryde High School. It does not form part of the sixth form collaboration scheme with Cowes, Carrisbooke and Medina High Schools which has recently affected entry numbers, causing financial difficulties for the school.[4]
