The Lightning Carbine was a rifle manufactured by Colt from 1884 to 1904 and was chambered in the .44-40 calibre. It somewhat resembles the lever-action rifles made by Winchester but instead with a slide-action. The Lightning Carbine saw use with the US Forces/Law Enforcement and various British Empire Military units in India. Lightning model rifles are still manufactured today for hunting purposes in a wide range of calibres.
