"Everyday Is a Winding Road" is the second single from American rock star Sheryl Crow's 1996 self-titled album. The song met well with radio and peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Neil Finn, lead singer of Crowded House, provides backing vocals. It also peaked at #12 on the UK Singles Chart. Paul Hester, another member of the band, was the inspiration for the song. This song is accompanied with a music video, directed by Peggy Sirota, filmed in sepia tone in New York City which features a toy airplane flying from person to person throughout the city. It also garnered a nomination for Record of the year at the 1998 Grammy Awards but lost to "Sunny Came Home" by Shawn Colvin.
The song was covered by Prince on his 1999 album, Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. The song was used in several 2006 and 2007 Subaru commercials and in the films Erin Brockovich and Phenomenon.
